Modern mountaineering celebrates purity, and the proven routes, team support, oxygen ropes and other support of extreme peak climbing have reduced the purity of traditional extreme mountaineering. We tried to ask: will there be more extreme and breakthrough climbs on the 8,000-meter snow-capped mountains? Undoubtedly, for the 8,000-meter peaks where commercial mountaineering is the mainstream, anaerobic climbing is one of the few pursuits in style.
Along the way, we have seen how He Jing has gone from zero to one, from one to two, to become a mountaineer who is responsible for himself, a mountaineer who cares for the environment, and a mountaineer who is more aware of autonomy. In 2022, He Jing climbed four 8,000-meter snow-capped mountains without oxygen for 74 days, which required careful planning and physical and mental support. Climbing an 8,000-meter snow-capped mountain without oxygen is a challenge to the limits of the human body, and its difficulty is very difficult as people can imagine.
