On the 24th, the Chinese Swimming Association released the "Notice on Collecting Some 2024 National Swimming Championship Organizers" on its official website. According to the notice, the trials for the Paris Olympics will be held in April next year. According to such a schedule, Olympic champion Sun Yang, who is currently on ban, will not be able to participate in the Paris Olympics.
Sun Yang was previously banned by FINA for 4 years and 3 months for smashing the sample bottle. The start date is February 28, 2020. In other words, Sun Yang's lifting of the ban is on May 28, 2024. Therefore, when the 2024 National Swimming Championships and Olympic Trials are held, Sun Yang is still in the ban period, so he will miss the Paris Olympics.
The deadline for achieving the A standard for swimming at the Paris Olympics is June 23, 2024. But unfortunately, from May 28 next year, when Sun Yang lifted the ban, to June 23, neither FINA nor domestic competitions were scheduled.
