Among them, Chen Xilian is a name that cannot be ignored.
Chen Xilian was born in 1915 in Pengjia Village, Huang'an, Hubei Province. His childhood was already full of twists and turns, bearing the burden of his family early. Growing up in such a world, he understood that only by overthrowing the feudal landlords could he truly gain freedom. Soon after, he became acquainted with the Red Army and became a passionate fighter determined to fight for the people.
The night attack on Yangmingbao in 1937 was a glorious page for Chen Xilian. In order to assist the Nationalist army and resist the Japanese army, he and his only thirty soldiers successfully destroyed 24 Japanese fighters. This victory not only broke the air superiority of the Japanese army, but also boosted the morale of the Chinese people.
However, the story behind it is even more moving. When Chen Xilian joined the army as a young man, he quietly left his hometown. The mother worries about him every day, hoping that her son will return safely. In the summer of 1947, Liu Deng's army entered Dabie Mountain, and Chen Xilian's younger brother, Chen Xili, led the way for the PLA, hoping to find his missing brother. When he mentioned the name "Chen Xilian", the audience was shocked, and then all this attracted the attention of the headquarters.
The war was eventually won, and Chen Xilian became the commander of artillery, contributing his youth and blood to the rise of New China. And this hero, even after the end of the war, has always continued to dedicate himself to the prosperity and development of the country.
Looking back on the revolutionary years, it was full of twists and turns, but it also forged a heroic monument opened by gold and stone. This is a history that every Chinese person should remember.
