What is the metaverse?
The term "metaverse" was first coined by Neil Stephenson's 1992 science fiction novel Snow Crash. Initially, it was just a thought experiment describing a hypothetical scenario in which individuals could interact with each other in three-dimensional virtual space, simulating the real world using programmable avatars.
The concept of the metaverse represents a new paradigm of online communication and interaction, consisting of connected virtual worlds that users can navigate through 3D avatars, providing a more immersive and interactive online experience. In essence, the "metaverse" can be seen as an evolution of the current internet landscape.
Technologies such as AR, VR, and blockchain are important drivers for the development of the metaverse. AR technology allows users to feel VR more realistically by blending digital visual elements with real-world environments using cameras. VR, on the other hand, is a computer-generated virtual environment generated by a VR headset where users can explore. In addition, blockchain technology enables digital proof of digital ownership, collection value, and value transfer. These technologies play a vital role in the development of the metaverse.
