Wei Demao grew up in the bandit road since he was a child and inherited the mantle of the family. He inherited not only the wealth of his family, but also their violence and cruelty. He killed people like a numb, and once personally killed Li Guocai, Zeng Wuda, and Qin Buke, a passing merchant, in a neighboring village. His ferocity and cruelty were terrifying, and even his men feared him, calling him "Maoke". The nickname stems from his murderous nature, and also symbolizes his greed and cruelty.

During his time in the snow cave, his evil deeds were even worse, sending money for food, blocking roads and robbing women, forcing people to become bandits, and committing misdeeds. In the early morning of December 8, 1950, the bandit troops of the Zhenyuan Military Sub-district attacked the snow cave and engaged the bandits in a fierce battle. Wei Demao and three others were surrounded in a building, and when he saw that the situation was critical, he resorted to a trick of fake surrender and raised a white flag to claim surrender. The PLA stopped shooting, he took the opportunity to bypass the back door, killed the deputy squad leader and three others guarding the main entrance, snatched the weapon, and fled into the mountains and forests. Wei Demao became even more rampant in the days that followed, repeatedly attacking the township people's government, killing local workers and killing innocent people.
However, he was eventually pursued by soldiers. During the fierce battle with the People's Liberation Army, he fled to the mountain of Taidong Zhaiwu. However, his luck had been exhausted, and he was discovered by the People's Liberation Army and the agricultural cooperative team, and finally arrested. After Wei Demao was arrested, he was sentenced to death after a public trial and immediately executed. This bandit with blood debts finally got the end he deserved. His arrest marks an important victory in the People's Liberation Army's suppression of bandits, and also brings tranquility and peace to the local people.
