Title: Unexpected Counterattack and Outlook in Preseason
The Wizards' preseason clash with the Hornets was full of surprises, and although the Hornets were better, the Wizards' bench broke out in the final quarter to win with a 35-17 climax.
In preseason, the Hornets started well, with Ball, Rozier and Miller laying the lead early. However, the Wizards' Kuzma led the team to gradually chase points by the end of the first quarter, closing the gap to just seven points.
Heading into the second quarter, the two sides were locked in a close deadlock, and at halftime, the Wizards were still behind 45-52. In the second half, the Wizards quickly minted their efforts, with Kuzma and Kulibaly leading the offense to narrow the gap to four points. However, the Hornets did not show weakness either, stepping up their offense after a timeout and opening up the gap again.
In the final quarter, the Wizards' bench erupted and counterattacked the Hornets to win 98-92. For the Hornets, Ball contributed 12 points and six rebounds, and Rozier excelled with 13 points, six rebounds and seven assists. The Wizards' Kuzma became the game's highest-scoring player with 19 points, four rebounds and three assists.
For the Wizards, though, Poole's performance remains a mystery. While in the offseason swap for Paul, some thought Poole could be the next Harden, his preseason performance was not satisfactory. Garnett believes the Wizards should give Poole more opportunities to shoot, but some have questioned that view. Poole's performance with the Warriors has been aided by the support of teammate Stephen Curry, but he will face more pressure once he becomes the core of the Wizards, especially on the offensive end.
All in all, this preseason game is full of unknowns, and the Wizards' comeback and the Hornets' persistence are both highlights of the game. For Poole, there are still some problems he needs to overcome to reach his full potential. Paul's arrival with the Warriors has also had an impact on the overall league landscape, and the Wizards need to seriously consider how to better use the team to succeed in the new season.
