The name of the park "Mianyuan Garden" echoes Lu Xun's "Hundred Herb Garden", pays attention to the integration of the park's theme and cultural characteristics, extends the reading atmosphere and space expansion of Lu Xun's bookstore, combines ground carvings, electric boxes and window walls to display Lu Xun's life and pen plants at multiple levels, forms an immersive cultural display space, allows residents to get close to the flowers and plants in the hutong, continues the landscape hutong texture of the Baitasi block, integrates the hutong park with Fujing Street, Lu Xun Museum and Baita Temple, and allows residents to enjoy the "slow life" of the hutong.

"Dim Garden" not only serves the surrounding residents, but also responds to the spatial relationship with the Lu Xun Museum and the White Tower. The park is divided into a cultural display area and a leisure activity area by the Moon Cave Gate to enrich the experience of visiting the park. Set up planting ponds along hutong roads to form a green and open streetscape, further restoring and improving the style of Fujing Street. The design of the park creates an all-age-friendly hutong garden rest space, which can not only overlook the white tower, but also exercise under the forest, and be separated from the surrounding residential areas, improving the service radius coverage of the green space of hutong residents.
The relevant person in charge of Xinjiekou Street introduced that "Mianhua" was originally a simple house built in the 50s of the 20th century, and with the development of the times, the simple house here is not only incompatible with the style of the historic district, but also old and dilapidated and has great safety risks. So, the street renovated and upgraded it.
After the debut, the total area of the land plot is 720 square meters, of which the park green area is 622 square meters, the sidewalk paving is 98 square meters, and the park greening accounts for 65% of the green area. At the same time, the street uses the process of simple housing to vacate and eliminate dangers, carry out hutong renewal and repair, make up for the shortcomings of the city, make full use of the "scraps" after retreat, see the seam and insert green, integrate into the interaction design according to local conditions, and plant old Beijing native tree species such as national locust tree, jujube tree, magnolia to increase green and vitality. Up to now, the area of small and micro green space in Xinjiekou Street is more than 6,000 square meters, an increase of about 32% over the previous two years.
In recent years, Xicheng District has fully implemented Beijing's new urban master plan and core area control regulations, implemented urban renewal, actively carried out urban greening, continued to expand green space, and continuously improved the ecological system. By the end of 2022, the urban green space in the district reached 1103.47 hectares, the park green space reached 551.41 hectares, the green coverage rate reached 32.16%, and the coverage index of 500-meter service radius of park green space increased from 89.5% in 2015 to 97.74%, ranking second in the city. The regional ecological quality has been improving year by year, and the people's sense of green gain has been continuously enhanced.
