Chen Nianzu, Zi XiuYuan, also known as Liang You, Shen Xiu, a native of Mei Village, Changle County, Fujian Province. When he was young, his family was poor, he studied Confucianism assiduously, studied medical classics, and studied with the famous doctor Cai Tingyu, and did his best to pass it on. Qianlong fifty-one years, supplement all life, Qianlong fifty-seven years in the middle of the lift. Jiaqing for fourteen years, serving in Laotingzhi County. During his tenure of office, he was diligent in government and loved the people, provided disaster relief and hardships, and was deeply loved by the people of Leting. In addition to official work, he uses his medical skills to treat diseases and save people, and is famous in the world.

According to legend, in the sixteenth year of Jiaqing, the flood in Laoting County, Nian Zuwei went to the Tingliu River to inspect the disaster situation and stayed in the Wang family guest house in the town. The owner's wife fell ill, and for several years the cure was unbearable, and the sound of moaning reached the outdoors. NianZu's companion learned of this and whispered to the owner of the shop: My master can cure this disease. After the owner of the shop heard this, he was overjoyed, so he immediately went to prostrate himself, and Nian Zu gladly agreed. After the diagnosis, he said: "This disease is not difficult to treat, and it is good to pay the medicine." "Immediately prescribed him medicine. Then he said, "I have something to do today, and I need to go back once, and I will come back at the latest in five days." ”

After Nian Zu left, the owner of the shop immediately went to the pharmacy to grab the medicine, and the pharmacist looked at the prescription, was shocked, and told him: "This is a dose of poison, and the person who prescribed it to you must have a vendetta against you." The owner of the shop asked him why, and Si Yao told him that Fang Zi opened six dollars for red alum and six dollars for stove heart soil, a total of fine powder, warm boiled water to send down. Red alum is also known as eight steps to break the intestine, less use can also be fatal. Such a large amount, after serving, will die. After the owner of the shop listened, he sighed and said, "I see that this guest officer of the Kaifang is a good person, and I have no grievances against him, so why should people harm me?" This disease is worse than life and death, in case of an accident after taking medicine, there is no complaint. Si Yao said: "In my opinion, it is better to grab the half payment first, try it, if it really works, and then grab the half payment." The owner listened and said, "This method is not bad." He immediately grabbed half of the payment and gave it to his wife when he returned home.

After taking the medicine, it did not hurt immediately in the abdomen, and the family smiled happily, saying that they had met a divine doctor and came to save their lives. Who knew that less than an hour after rejoicing, the patient suddenly had abdominal pain, shouted, spat out blood in his mouth, and died of exhaustion.

The patient died violently, like thunder on his head, and the whole family was helpless, howling and crying, and alarming the whole town. Neighbors, asked about its passing, people listened, they all had grievances in their hearts, and together they gave the owner a sign, telling him not to bury the body, temporarily parked in the house, and when the guests came, they asked him for justice.

Five days later, Nian Zu did come and asked about the patient when he entered the door. When the neighbors learned about it, they all rushed to the scene, and when they came forward, they all said that he had killed people with medicine, and the uneven voice was difficult to quell. Nian Zu carefully asked the shopkeeper what was going on, pondered for a moment, and said: "I am Chen Nianzu, the county official of this county, this person is a major case of life, if the responsibility is on me, I will never shirk it, please find someone to take my business card and a letter, go to the county court to find the master, and I will definitely give everyone a satisfactory answer." ”

The people present at that time were surprised to hear that it was the county magistrate who was treated, and had to obey the order to see what was going on. When the master arrived, he also brought a pestle. Nian Zu brought the chief and the chief father and elder of the town to him. In front of the crowd, he said, "The owner's wife has abdominal pain because there are two worms in the stomach, and it is a male and a female." People with this disease usually love to eat sweets. I used the recipe of red alum and heartland to lure the insects to eat, but it must be six dollars of red alum to kill both insects, although the red alum is poisonous, because it is eaten by the insects, but it is harmless to the owner. The patient, on the other hand, only ate half of it, which was the amount of medicine for a worm, so only one died. Although I didn't eat much, I was made by medicine and also had a fainting, so there was no pain in my abdomen at that time. After the undead insect returned to the yang, it saw that its companion was dead, and it made a big fuss, which led to a broken stomach, severe pain in the abdomen, and vomiting blood to death. Today we call the pestle for a post-mortem examination of the broken abdomen, so as to prove the rest of the words, and if they do not match, they are willing to offset it with their lives. ”

After dissecting the corpse, he took out two worms from his abdomen, one dead and one alive, just like Nian Zu said. The fathers and elders who watched from the sidelines were all convinced, and they all said that the cause of death was that the responsibility lay in the shop owner and the medicine master who did not respect the doctor's advice, not the improper use of the ancestors. Since then, the county order's ability to cure the disease has disappeared, and everywhere is known, and more and more people are going to the county court to find him for treatment.

Although the above anecdotal story has no basis in history, nor can it be found in the "Gongyu Medical Case" written by Nian Zu, it has been passed down in the folk of Leting for a long time.

The great Confucian of ancient times, who was sad about the dangers of the world, was determined to walk the path to save the people. The great doctors of ancient times, who could not be saved from the wounds, were determined to cure the diseases to save people. Chen Nianzu said: "If the three immortal things are established as one of them, if they can understand the way of Zhongjing, they will not be disturbed by heretical learning, and the people will not die, and their merits will also reach the world and future generations." ”

If you have the heart to save people, you must have the art of saving people. Chen Nianzu's medical skills come from family traditions and teacher inheritance, and he has his own experience. Not wanting to be curious, but wanting to benefit the world, he wrote books in his spare time, and wrote more than one hundred and fifty volumes of medical works in his lifetime. His "Shallow Notes on Typhoid Fever" and "Brief Notes on the Golden Plateau" were completed in the sixteenth year of Jiaqing, both of which were written when he was an official in Leting. His son Yuan Xi said: "The family prince has a little time to take the typhoid gold book, and those who have already made three or four notes have changed their manuscripts." "The book "Gongyu Medical Case" is the medical case when he was in office. The many cases contained in the "Song of Chang Shao Fang", Jiaqing Fourteen Years, Cao Fugu, etc., are also medical cases when he was in office. The "Shi Fang Miao" and "Shennong Herbal Scripture Reading" were published in the eighth year of Jiaqing, and the "Three Character Classics of Medicine" was published in the ninth year of Jiaqing, and in view of the influence of his medical name at that time, all practitioners bought it. In the 1950s, many old Chinese medicine practitioners were able to recite the Three Character Sutra of Medicine with catchiness.

Chen Nianzu served as a county commander in Leting for three years, and continued to serve as an official in Yidi, while still doing official business for the doctor. Lin Zexu, who was a fellow countryman with Nian Zu, said: "Listening to him talk about medicine, there are words from the side of the yuan, and those who steal the recent karma of the doctor are incompetent. He also said: "The gentleman has lived for thousands of years in the countryside with his skills in the township", which is enough to prove his reputation at that time.

Chen Nianzu's medical skills were once known as Zhenjingshi, Ze and Shenzhou, and his medical works are still popular at home and abroad.
