The Ishikawa prefectural government said 1,298 guests who had visited the noodle shop had sought advice from the government, and a total of 892 people were confirmed to have developed symptoms of food poisoning of varying degrees in 18 prefectures in Japan, ranging in age from one to their 80s, 22 of whom had been briefly hospitalized.
The investigation found that the spring water used in the noodle shop contained Campylobacter, which may have caused food poisoning. Ishikawa Prefecture issued a notice in response to the incident, requiring restaurants that use well water or spring water to thoroughly test water quality at least once a year, and strengthen hygiene guidelines to prevent the recurrence of food poisoning incidents.
