At noon on May 13 of that year, three little shepherd boys were playing in the square in front of a small town called Fatima.
Among the three, the eldest Lucia was only ten years old, and then Lucia's cousin Francisco, a boy, had just turned nine years old at the time; The youngest is Jessita, a seven-year-old girl.
Usually after lunch, the three of them would run to the square to play.
This time is no exception.
Just as the three of them were having fun, a strange light suddenly appeared in the sky.
This light is extremely dazzling, as if it has the ability to pierce everything in the world.
Immediately afterwards, a female face appeared on a tree in the middle of the meadow.
According to the description of the three children, the woman was dressed in white and emitted an unusually dazzling light all over her body.
Even the light that appeared in the sky before was much inferior in comparison.
Lucia also noticed that the woman was holding a string of beads in her hand with a slightly sad expression.
Seeing this scene, the three children were really stunned, so much so that they were stunned and did not dare to move.
At this moment, the woman suddenly spoke.
She actually claimed to be the Virgin Mary.
According to the Bible, when Mary was a virgin, she accepted God's call and gave birth to Jesus.
Later, in honor of her great deeds of giving birth to Jesus, people wrote a Rosary to praise her.
Mary told the three children who she was, and then told them to come here every time they arrived on the 13th to hear her read the Rosary.
The three children were naturally unable to understand Mary's request.
Mary saw their doubts and further explained that for the peace of the world and the happiness of mankind, she hoped that the three children would go here to recite the Rosary together.
As soon as these words were spoken, the three children, as if inspired by the golden light, agreed to Mary's request.
Immediately, Maria disappeared into mid-air.
After experiencing such a strange thing, the three children had no intention of continuing to play.
They hurried home and informed their parents about it.
However, adults simply do not believe that their children can see "miracles".
To this end, the parents of the three children also warned them not to spread rumors about "miracles."
But despite their parents' warnings, the three children insisted that they were never lying.
In order to confirm whether what the children said was true or false, the adults decided to secretly follow the children to the square a month later to listen to Mary's preaching.

Second appearance
In June 1917, the date of the second meeting with Maria approached, and 10-year-old Lucia took her cousins to the square.
In order to verify the child's claim, the parents decided to sneak the little one into the square and hide nearby in advance, waiting for the Maria in the child's mouth to appear.
Unexpectedly, suddenly, an incomparably dazzling light appeared in the sky.
Parents looked where the light was emitting, but they couldn't see anything.

Because the last time we met, Mary had told the three children that they would go to heaven.
So this time Lucia asked Mary bluntly when they would be able to enter heaven.
Maria replied that the three of them would soon be able to enter heaven, but it was Lucia's two cousins who entered heaven first.
Lucia also needs to stay in the world for a while longer and help Maria deal with some more things.
Strangely, it was true that Lucia lived longer than her two cousins, Francisco and Jesita, who died three years later in the Portuguese pandemic.
Immediately after, the preaching ended.
Mary hopes that the three children will arrive on time on the thirteenth of the following month, and she also reveals that the content of the next month's ministry is about the three prophecies of the future.
Of course, Lucia and the others agreed to Maria without hesitation.
After returning home, Lucia and her parents were quite concerned about their children's mental state.
But Lucia described very clearly what she saw and heard, and with the strange sight she saw with her own eyes, the adults began to believe that this may indeed be a "miracle".
Parents began to feel that the three children were chosen ones and therefore could witness the "miracle" and that they were mere mortals.
On July 13, Lucia took her cousins to the agreed place to receive Mary's preaching.
This time, from the mouth of Our Lady, they heard about the future of humanity, the so-called "Fatima" event.
But after hearing Mary's three predictions about the future, the three children were arrested by the local police.
The reason is simple, at that time, Portugal had just established a new regime, and ordinary religious activities were unlikely, let alone "miraculous" such as the apparitions of the Virgin.
And since the three children went to the appointment on the 13th of each month, the news that they witnessed and received Mary's preaching gradually spread in the town.
Eventually, the news reached the ears of the local police.
In order to curb the impact of this news, the police specially chose the day of the preaching and put three children in prison under the pretext of spreading rumors.
However, what no one expected was that this would increase people's enthusiasm for faith.
And later the Holy See hid Mary's third prophecy, making the whole thing even more confusing.

In 1941, in Memoirs, Lucia first revealed three prophecies she had heard that year.
Among them, the first prophecy tells that human beings are in a scene of deep water, and their shells and souls are deeply trapped in hellfire, unable to extricate themselves.
Mary did not explicitly say why humans are in such a predicament, but she showed Lucia and others that this is the inevitable end of the world for mankind.
But as for when this end will come, Mary does not reveal too much, she just hopes that humanity will be in awe.
If the first prophecy is too "vague," the second prophecy is about the First World War.
The Memoirs describes that Lucia asked Mary when the current wars on the continent would end.
Instead of saying it directly, Mary reminded Lucia in cryptic words that the souls of all were about to be saved and peace would soon come.
However, to Lucia's incomprehension, although Mary secretly promised the arrival of peace, she quickly said that this peace was only short-lived, and another world war would come.
In this war, Russia's power can spread all over the world, but it will eventually fall apart.
As for the third prophecy, Lucia played hide-and-seek with the crowd: she wrote the prophecy in epistle to a bishop named Leilia who served in the Holy See, which has not yet been published.
And because the first two prophecies were made public by Lucia in 1941.
As we all know, the world in 1941 has advanced to the time of World War II.
Therefore, many people think that what Lucia said is just an afterthought.
However, more people are more willing to believe that these things were indeed told to Lucia by the Virgin.
The reason is simple.
Go back in time to September 13, 1917.
This day was the day of preaching agreed between Lucia and the others and the Virgin, but because the three children had been arrested by the police after the August incident, they could not go.
Therefore, instead of the three children, the public who wanted to see the "miracle" were the people.
On this day, piles of people flock to the square in front of the small town of Fatima, where they quietly wait for a miracle, and are said to number 70,000 people.
Sure enough, at noon, the big trees on the square began to emit an incomparably dazzling light, and then colorful clouds appeared in mid-air.
What's even more amazing is that the originally hot summer suddenly becomes cool and pleasant.
Although the light was so dazzling that it was impossible to see directly, everyone present believed that this light that could compete with the sun's light was emitted by Mary's appearance.
Therefore, tens of thousands of people directly "watched" the appearance of the "miracle".
For this reason, even if they could not see the true face of Mary, people still believed Lucia's words.
After all, in the times of the time, it was unlikely that someone would have created such a strong light to reproduce the coming of "God".
However, as science progressed into the 21st century, some questioned the matter: the appearance of "Maria" was most likely a collective hallucination.
The causes of collective hallucinations are complex and difficult problems that psychology has not fully understood, but they are not without precedent in history.
In 1958, a team of Japanese expeditions in Antarctica saw a monster without hair.
However, when they were about to raise their cameras to shoot, the monster disappeared without a trace.
Moreover, from the perspective of physics, time is the greatest illusion of mankind.
Because time doesn't exist.
But whether the "Fatima" incident was a collective hallucination, a myth, or a real "miracle", we do not know.
There has never been a shortage of unsolved mysteries, and before the answer is revealed, it is people's romantic imagination of the unknown to explain it with "miracles".
