10, "Crash" (2005)
2005's "Crash" is not a film that will be fondly missed by awards season fanatics. The film triumphed at the Academy Awards, pocketing the Academy Award for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay, and the year's hits included later classics Brokeback, Capote, Munich, and Good Night, Good Luck.

Dillon plays a respected high school counselor accused of harassing two of his top students, and his performance is both sarcastic and mean. Dillon excels at a character who is naturally unlikable, as the increasingly ridiculous misdirection in the film allows him to play the eccentricity of the character.
6, "Whatever it Takes" (1995)
Dillon's collaboration with Gus Van Sant marked one of the most productive periods of both of their acting careers. "Whatever it Is" is an outstanding deconstruction of media sensationalism and cult of personality, and it uses Dillon's "bad boy energy" for satirical purposes.
Nicole Kidman plays aspiring star weather broadcaster Susan in the film, one of the best performances of her career, and Dillon as her unfortunate husband, Lally. Lally was initially impressed by his wife's rise, but later found that he could no longer keep up with the increasingly emotionally unstable woman.
5, "I'm Mad for Mary" (1998)
Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly were highly influential comedy producers of the 90s of the 20th century, who cleverly developed the genre "disgusting". I'm Crazy for Mary is one of their funniest films to date.

Dillon has a particularly interesting character, Cliff, a rocker who doesn't care much about love and believes that betting on his success is the only thing he needs to start a career in the industry.
2, "Psychedelic Cowboy" (1989)
Dillon's best film with Gus Van Sant is still an outlier in the independent film world. Psychedelic Cowboy offers a candid, unflinchingly and honest look at drug abuse among young people and is undaunted to show the serious consequences of addiction.
Dillon plays Bob Hughes, a wild thief who travels across the country with his girlfriend Diane (Kylie Lynch) and his accomplices to steal prescription drugs from various pharmacies to support their addiction. Watching Bob sink deeper and deeper into his habit of self-destruction was a disturbing but eye-opening viewing experience.
