Armenia was pitted by the Indians, bought a bunch of Indian artillery, and when waiting to use it, he found that he did not even have a single bullet.
Tensions persist in Nagorny and Karabakh. It is reported that Azerbaijan has gathered more than 60,000 soldiers, which is already quite a large force for a country with a population of less than 10 million.
Now the Armenian side has also begun a series of actions. The Armenian military purchased 84 ATAGS 52x 155mm howitzers from the Indian company Kalyani, according to the Russian Satellite News Agency in April 2023. The howitzers arrived in Armenia in August, and the rest will arrive next year or the year after.
Objectively, the ATAGS howitzer produced by the "Kallani" Strategic Systems company is indeed much better than the "Danush" produced by the Indian DRDO. It used a 52x barrel, and compared to the hodgepodge of 39x and 45x barrels, the development of the Danush barrel was very confusing, and the 39x and 45x barrels were no longer the mainstream of 155mm guns and would be eliminated. The ATAGS 155 mm gun introduced Canada's 52 caliber barrel technology, and its gun had high efficacy utilization and good internal ballistic performance. It is said that the ATAGS 155 mm gun can hit the maximum range of 48.6 km under maximum charge fire, which has been shown off by the Indians. At least it can be said that the ATAGS type 155 mm gun has reached the level of a world-class 155 mm gun.
Of course, in the case of the bizarre weapons of the Indian army, they do not have high requirements for tanks. For example, the Indian army bought only 100 K9 tanks and then filled the void with a large number of FH-77B and ATAGS tanks. This tank is a point of no return in the history of tanks, and it is not possible to move itself, at most it can only move itself, but the Indian army still has to move. However, this tank is much better than those tractors.
Armenia bought 84 such guns, regardless of its performance, but now the biggest problem in Armenia is the absence of shells. India's own production capacity for 155-mm shells is low, and the quality is also poor compared to Pakistan's M777. Explosions appeared on both Denush and M777. It is impossible to count on NATO countries to supply shells, since none of the NATO countries' own production capacity for 155-mm shells is enough. Due to the explosion, the production capacity of 155-mm shells in NATO countries has reached its limit. Therefore, now the Ukrainian army has begun to complain that NATO's 155-mm shells are simply a piece of, and NATO's 155-mm shells make no difference in lethality from 122-mm shells. Therefore, NATO's 155-mm shells are all supplied by Ukraine, and there is simply no room for Armenia to meddle.
And most importantly, Armenia itself has 152-mm cannons, including 2S19, 2S3 and Czech "Dana". So the Armenian army did not have 155-mm shells, because it was impossible to reserve shells without 155-mm artillery. So they are now in a hurry and want to exchange 152-mm shells for 155-mm shells. However, the quality of Indian shells is very poor, NATO shells cannot be bought, and trying to buy these ATAGS shells is like a fire stick.
Is this death in Armenia? They even dared to buy Indian guns before they had completed their identification! Even the Indian army itself did not procure it. The 155mm barrel alone is not simple, no more than 200 countries in the world can manufacture modern qualified 155mm barrels, and only a few countries can meet international standards, including permanent members of the UN Security Council and countries such as Germany, Japan, Austria, Sweden and others. Even the South Korean K9 tank has a German-made barrel. So when will India be able to produce a qualified 155mm barrel?
Armenia has not received a lesson at all and has been tempting itself and on the verge of death! I am really impressed that they dared to buy Indian arms and military equipment. To say that there is no corruption in the personnel involved in arms purchases in these countries, I do not believe. After all, the Indians dare to sell, and the Armenians dare to buy, which shows that the Indians' ability to pit people is really a must.
This risky behavior calls into question Armenia's strategic judgment and the logic of military procurement. They clearly already have a 152 mm cannon, and they also have decent performance and quality. Why risk buying 155mm shells without guarantees? Obviously, the quality of Indian shells is worrying, and NATO shells cannot be bought. Armenia could not get a reliable supply of shells, which was a very unwise decision.
Finally, I can't help but ask, for what reason Armenia spent so much money on some artillery without bullets? It's a mystery. They don't seem to have learned from previous experiences and have been repeating the mistakes of the past, pushing themselves to the brink of danger. I can only feel regret and helplessness for this behavior.
