The Chinese Institute of Electronics issued a statement on September 18, saying that the project is not a domestic lithography machine factory transmitted on the Internet, but a high-energy synchrotron radiation light source project (HEPS) in Beijing.
Beijing High Energy Synchrotron Radiation Light Source Project is located on the shore of Yanqi Lake in Huairou, Beijing, is the national "13th Five-Year Plan" major scientific and technological infrastructure, it is the first high-energy synchrotron radiation light source in mainland China, and it is also one of the brightest fourth-generation synchrotron radiation light sources in the world. Construction began as early as 2019 and will be commissioned by the end of 2025.
What is HEPS for? Its role is to accelerate the electron beam to 6 GeV through an accelerator and then inject it into a storage ring with a circumference of 1360 meters, keeping it running at nearly the speed of light. When the electron beam passes through the bent magnet or various inserts at different positions of the storage ring, it will release stable, high-energy, high-brightness light, that is, synchrotron radiation light, along the direction of the tangent line of the deflection track.
The Chinese Institute of Electronics explained that HEPS can be regarded as an ultra-precise, ultra-high-speed, powerful penetrating giant X-ray machine, the small beam it produces can penetrate the substance, go deep into the interior for stereoscopic scanning, from the molecular and atomic scale multi-dimensional observation of the microscopic world, HEPS is a large scientific device for scientific experiments, not a lithography machine factory transmitted on the Internet.
According to the China Institute of Electronics, the project was led by Lou Yu, a national survey and design master and chief scientist of SDIC Group, and a number of technical research and design teams of the China Institute of Electronics worked together to overcome a number of technical and technological difficulties from the project feasibility to the project landing. At present, the supporting project of high-energy synchrotron radiation light source has been fully completed.
