AMANERA Amaninlan
Dominican Republic· Playa Grande
Opened: November 23, 2015
Designer: John Hear
"Amanera perfectly embodies the essence of the Aman spirit," says Aman CEO Olivier Jolivet, "and this is a perfect example of how we can find the most outstanding and beautiful locations in an unexpected destination to create a luxurious and replicable haven." Amanera will demonstrate our relentless pursuit of creating resorts that are in harmony with the pristine natural environment. ”
Representing low-key luxury, Aman hotels always interpret the understanding of 'local experience' in its own unique way, which meets people's aesthetic needs for modern life, and its design concept of 'natural without traces' has become a timeless luxury taste. Designed by designer John Heah and located atop a 60-foot cliff flanked by a beach and golf course, Amane's name is inspired by the Sanskrit word for "peace and tranquility" and designed with water at its soul, and the area around the resort is pristine and sparsely populated, with a variety of scenery to create a sense of relaxation.
Design is valuable because, firstly, it represents a conquest of reality in the eyes of society, and secondly, it embodies a form. Like John Heah's Amanera, the hotel has 25 cottages, each of which is designed with an original and organic concept, complementing the surrounding natural scenery.
With the keen perception of his contemporaries, the designer has successfully captured the essence of Caribbean leisure, and the beautiful living spaces of the cottages are handcrafted to reflect the unique passion of Dominica. The use of natural materials reflects the aesthetic sophistication for details such as stones from local quarries, local handmade Aguayo tiles, and Dominican arts and crafts.
At the heart of the resort is the "Casa Grande", a unique architectural form that makes it appear to "float" on a three-story flowing landscape, with surging ocean, golf courses and jungle at every corner of Casa Grande, and a soaring open-air bar and lounge in the center, and a curved swimming pool cascading down to encircle the dining area, further confirming the water-based design concept.
