For many years, the wish for peaceful reunification between the two sides of the strait has not been realized.
At that time, the central authorities selected a group of patriotic party members to go to Taiwan to carry out underground work, and Premier Zhou personally selected Cai Xiaoqian as the leader to infiltrate Taiwan, but he never thought that Cai Xiaoqian betrayed the organization after his arrest, resulting in the killing of a large number of members of the underground organization, and all our party's plans on Taiwan failed.
Early life experience
Born in Changhua, Taiwan in 1908, Cai Xiaoqian entered a local public school in Changhua at the age of 11, a school founded by the Japanese, but Cai Xiaoqian was not influenced by Japanese ideas.
After studying in school for 3 years, Cai Xiaoqian graduated, he chose to stay in school as a teaching assistant, and after a year of teaching assistant work, Cai Xiaoqian left the school.
In 1924, Cai Xiaoqian was admitted to Shanghai University with excellent grades in the Department of Sociology, a characteristic school founded by our Party, during which Cai Xiaoqian was initially exposed to our Party's advanced ideas.
During his time at school, Tsai Xiaoqian met some of the early leaders of our party and actively participated in the Taiwan Youth Association in Shanghai, where many like-minded patriotic young people devoted themselves to the cause of the organization's development.
When Cai Xiaoqian was a student, he participated in many patriotic activities, actively publicized our party's progressive ideas, and was a staunch patriotic and progressive youth.
After graduating from Shanghai University's sociology department, Cai Xiaoqian returned to his hometown of Changhua, Taiwan, and actively publicized our party's progressive ideas and published many advanced articles.
During this period, Cai Xiaoqian became the main founder of our party in Taiwan, and actively publicized the work of the organization, so that our party's advanced ideas could be effectively disseminated in Taiwan.
The first half of a glorious life
In 1928, Japan began a large-scale search for Chinese Party members in Taiwan, and Cai Xiaoqian was forced to return to the mainland and hide in the Zhangzhou area of Fujian.
In 1932, when the Red Army successfully captured the Zhangzhou area, Luo Ronghuan, who was the leader of the Red First Regiment at the time, remembered Cai Xiaoqian and arranged for him to be a teacher of the regiment school.
In the following time, Cai Xiaoqian completed various tasks with excellence, coupled with his high ideological consciousness, and successfully became the director of the General League of the Soviet Region.
It was during this period that Cai Xiaoqian, Hu Yaobang, and Mao Zeqin were like-minded, and soon developed a deep friendship, often talking together all night.
In 1934, the Red Army lost the fifth counter-encirclement and was forced to embark on a long march of 25,000 miles, while Cai Xiaoqian also marched with the troops.
During the Long March, Tsai Xiaoqian was very special as the only Taiwanese in the army. But the soldiers did not isolate Cai Xiaoqian because of his identity, but entrusted him with many important tasks.
Over time, Cai Xiaoqian became an example for many soldiers to follow, and after the victory of the Long March, Cai Xiaoqian continued to devote himself to the development of the organization.
After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, Cai Xiaoqian's talents were brought into play, and he studied Japanese while studying in Changhua, which came in handy at this time, and after our army captured the Japanese prisoners, Cai Xiaoqian was specifically responsible for interrogation.
Because he was familiar with the Japanese language, Cai Xiaoqian also obtained important information from the telegrams sent by the Japanese army, which gave our army a great advantage in the battle and laid the foundation for victory in the war.
Soon after the outbreak of the Liberation War, the central leaders organized a secret team to go to Taiwan to carry out underground work and prepare in advance for the subsequent recovery of Taiwan.
Premier Zhou has always known people and made good use of them, he discovered many patriotic and capable people, cultivated a lot of talents for the organization, trusted Cai Xiaoqian and sent him to Taiwan on a mission, which was the only time Premier Zhou looked away.
The style of the rich children
Cai Xiaogan's family conditions are not bad, he has lived a worry-free life since he was a child, and his food, clothing, housing and transportation in that poor era were out of reach for many people, which also cultivated Cai Xiaoqian's style of being a rich child.
The leader of Taiwan Province at that time was Chiang Kai-shek, but Tsai Xiaoqian, as a secret executive sent to Taiwan, was not low-key at all, still brazenly going to local high-end restaurants and clothing stores, and dressed boldly.
When the money was not enough to spend, Cai Xiaoqian also used public funds, and even exchanged important information of the organization for money, living a privileged life for a long time, without the slightest scruples, and gradually forgetting his original intention.
During the period when underground work was carried out in Taiwan, Tsai Xiaoqian could be said to cover the sky with one hand, and Chiang Kai-shek's blockade of the two sides of the strait was very strict, resulting in the central leaders on the mainland knowing little about the work of Taiwan's underground organizations, and Tsai Xiaoqian became even more unscrupulous.
After being arrested, he defected to the group
After Chiang Kai-shek fled to Taiwan, he began a large-scale search and arrest of our party figures, and after a series of investigations by Kuomintang agents, they found that Cai Xiaoqian was an important leader of the underground organization, so they began to track him down.
Soon Cai Xiaoqian was discovered and captured by the Kuomintang, and before the Kuomintang could torture him, with the help of underground organizations, Cai Xiaoqian escaped from captivity and hid in an inconspicuous village.
Cai Xiaoqian, who was accustomed to a life of brocade clothes and jade food, could not bear the life in the village, so he decided to go outside to eat a good meal. On this day, Cai Xiaoqian wore a delicate suit and was ready to eat steak at a Western restaurant, which was particularly conspicuous in the crowd.
Kuomintang agents immediately arrested Cai Xiaoqian, and fearing that the Kuomintang would impose heavy punishments, he told the list of underground organizations in Taiwan without questioning.
Cai Xiaoqian's betrayal dealt a devastating blow to our party, and the Kuomintang arrested nearly 2,000 members of the underground organization according to the list provided by Cai Xiaoqian, and our party's organization in Taiwan basically collapsed.
Even the identity of General Wu Shi, who was installed by our party in the top level of the Kuomintang, was exposed, and following the clues, the Kuomintang also discovered Zhu Feng and other important underground members of our party.
In 1950, Wu Shi, Zhu Feng and other patriots were brutally killed by the Kuomintang in Machang Town, Taipei, because of their stubborn resistance to the Kuomintang, among which Zhu Fengshi was the only heroine.
Because of Cai Xiaoqian's betrayal, many people of our party were brutally killed, and the original plan to recover Taiwan failed, and soon the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea broke out, and the Taiwan issue could only be temporarily shelved. Later, Chiang Kai-shek's rule in Taiwan Province became more and more solid, and cross-strait reunification became more difficult.
The Taiwan issue was a major knot in Premier Zhou's heart, and recovering Taiwan was his greatest wish, but until his death, he could not see Taiwan return to the embrace of the motherland.
