However, the home of one of the Kuomintang generals was a rare "poverty", in his home, there was no gold or silver jewelry, only two things were found in the corner of the yard.
And these two things, for the Kuomintang generals who spent money and piled up gold and jade, were really a bit "bumpy", and even made our army puzzled.
After Chen Yi heard the news, he specially rushed over, and when he saw this shiny thing that was being maintained, he couldn't help but be confused, and asked in surprise: "What are you hiding this for?" ”

"Alternative" Kuomintang generals

Wang Yaowu is one of them.
He won the trust and use of Chiang Kai-shek, and his military talent was obvious to all; under the order of Chiang Lao, he encircled and suppressed our army, resulting in heavy losses for our army.
However, there has always been a saying in the army that "three Li is not as good as one king", "three Li" refers to Li Yannian, Li Xianzhou, and Li Yutang, and "one king" refers to Wang Yaowu, which fully shows that Wang Yaowu's military talent is not ordinary.
In addition, some people once said, "Ning Jala Yan King, do not touch the old king", his shrewdness, ability, and clear mind, was called by our senior generals as one of the few understanding people in the Kuomintang.
After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan, Wang Yaowu looked forward to the days when the country could enter peace and stability, but Chiang Kai-shek did not keep his promises, unilaterally tore up the contract, and started a civil war.
Wang Yaowu only wanted to reunite with his family at this time, and did not want to Chinese Chinese, so he asked Chiang Kai-shek for sick leave, but Chiang Kai-shek sent a special plane to send Wang Yaowu to Chongqing for medical treatment.
Not only that, but he also personally went to the hospital to visit Wang Yaowu, helplessly, and finally took up important military and political positions in Shandong under the condition that Chiang Kai-shek was both enpowered.
In the three major liberation wars, the Kuomintang army was defeated one after another, and although Wang Yaowu tried his best to fight in the war, it was ultimately to no avail, and he was finally captured by our army.
According to the custom, our army will generally search the homes of the generals of the Kuomintang army, after all, most of the financial resources of the Kuomintang are improper wealth, so our army will confiscate the gold and silver jewelry that is found.
But in Wang Yaowu's home, nothing of value was found, which made everyone think that Wang Yaowu had hidden all his belongings in advance.
If you want to say that there is nothing, it is not true, in the courtyard of Wang Yaowu's family, there are two maintained oil-increasing and shiny tractors, and you can tell how much the owner loves them by looking at the appearance.
As a Kuomintang general, he did not find any belongings at home except for two tractors, which is impossible to say, but after checking the tractor inside and out several times, there is really nothing suspicious.
Immediately, our army officers and soldiers reported the matter to their superiors, and Chen Yi rushed to see the news, and was surprised to see these two tractors, so he asked Wang Yaowu in person what the tractors were for.
Wang Yaowu looked at the tractor, also very embarrassed, compared with other Kuomintang generals, his home did seem a little "shabby", but Wang Yaowu was not ashamed of it.
On the contrary, he liked his home and his family, he did not like money, so he never took ill-gotten gains, and these two tractors were given by his foreign friends, and he stayed because he wanted to return home to farm after the war was over.
Wang Yaowu's answer made Chen Yi cry and laugh, who would have thought that such a general, who was deeply valued by Chiang Kai-shek, held military and political power, but in his heart he only wanted to return to his hometown to be a farmer who kept to himself, and only dreamed of owning a piece of land of his own.
At the same time, it also made Marshal Chen Yi feel sincere admiration.
Although Wang Yaowu was a Kuomintang army, he never oppressed the people, on the contrary, he was sometimes quite angry and helpless about the Kuomintang's practices.
Wang Yaowu's lifelong "old enemy"
As the third batch of cadets who graduated from the Huangpu Military Academy, Wang Yaowu left a lot of merit in the history of the war, and in the Battle of Tanjiaqiao in November 1934, he met his "old enemy" - General Su Yu.
At that time, the fifth counter-encirclement and suppression operation on the side of the Red Army had just failed, and it was preparing for a long march, and General Su Yu and Fang Zhimin led the team here in order to contain the strength of the Kuomintang.
On the 24th of that month, Fang Zhimin heard that Wang Yaowu's troops were fighting alone, so he decided to use the nearby terrain to ambush him.
In the morning, the two sides officially began a confrontation, and no one expected that misfortune really happened, due to the betrayal of traitors, Fang Zhimin was captured by the national army and became a prisoner.
When General Su Yu heard the news, he was very worried about Fang Zhimin's comfort, and finally with unremitting efforts, he broke through Wang Yaowu's iron-like army and successfully covered the Red Army heading north.
At this time, Wang Yaowu also noticed Su Yu, and in the following days, he ordered his subordinates to collect all the information about Su Yu, which shows how much Wang Yaowu cares about General Su Yu.
In fact, General Su Yu also noticed Wang Yaowu, especially after the Kuomintang and the Communist Party united to resist Japan, after all, when encountering such a strong opponent, even under the cooperative relationship, it was necessary to be on guard.
In the blink of an eye, the time came to 1945, not long after the end of the Anti-Japanese War, Chiang Kai-shek was once again ready to start civil strife, and it was precisely because of this action that Su Yu and Fang Zhimin met again.
On the battlefield in Shandong, as soon as General Su Yu heard that his opponent was Wang Yaowu, he immediately raised his spirit and discussed policy with General Chen Yi.
General Su Yu decided to abandon Linyi first, and then lure Wang Yaowu's Li Xianzhou army to act rashly, and at this moment, Wang Yaowu sensed our army's trap, but it was too late.
The three major liberation battles made the Kuomintang army inadequate, and Wang Yaowu was also very difficult on the battlefield in Shandong.
Chairman Mao: Attack is attack, passing is passing
Before the destruction of Jinan City, Wang Yaowu did two things, which can be said to be the most correct things he did in his life.
The Kuomintang was defeated in the three major liberation wars, and Wang Yaowu knew that the defeat of the Kuomintang was decided, so in order not to let the people in the city be innocently implicated in the war, he opened the city and evacuated all the people out of the city.
This was in stark contrast to the practice of some Kuomintang troops using civilians as "human shields" in order to survive, and he also ordered the immediate release of the detained communists and officers and soldiers, and sent them all out of the city, and if anyone disobeyed the military order, they would be dealt with by military law.
Throughout the history of the civil war, knowing that he was about to lose the army, he also released the enemy, and Wang Yaowu should be the first in history.
After the defeat, Wang Yaowu also tried to escape, and he even managed to leave the city in makeup, but he was still captured in Shouguang, and since then he has been a prisoner of war.
During his time as a prisoner of war, he deeply felt the difference between the Communist Party and the Kuomintang, so he publicly shouted to Chiang Kai-shek through the radio station:
"Judging from the current situation, the defeat of the Kuomintang is a foregone conclusion, and how unwise it is to make a final struggle, it is better to order the national army of the whole country to immediately surrender unconditionally to the PLA, so that peace can be restored in China and the nation can preserve its vitality."
This made Chiang Kai-shek angry, and how much Chiang Kai-shek used to be very important to Wang Yaowu, now he is so angry and corrupted, he smashed the radio on the spot, and scolded Wang Yaowu as a "soft bone and hypocrite."
But these have long been unheard of for Wang Yaowu, who just wants to reform well and reunite with his family as soon as possible.
It is worth mentioning that during the transformation, Wang Yaowu was very cooperative, and even Chairman Mao was impressed by his achievements during the Anti-Japanese Period, and during Wang Yaowu's transformation, he also brought a few words to Wang Yaowu.
"You are a meritorious work, a pass. We communists will always remember your anti-Japanese merits, and as long as you reshape with peace of mind, you will soon return to the people. ”
It can be seen that Chairman Mao is still full of expectations for Wang Yaowu, and it is for this reason that in 1959, our army granted amnesty to a number of war criminals, and Wang Yaowu was in the list of the first batch of amnesties.
After seeing the sun again, Wang Yaowu did not become a farmer as he wished, but two years later, he was appointed as a commissioner of the Cultural and Historical Materials Research Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
At the end of 1964, he was specially invited to be a member of the Fourth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and the Kuomintang prisoners of war were released to attend the Communist Party meeting, which was unheard of, and it was enough to show that the Party Central Committee valued his talents.
In 1966, under the personal mediation of Premier Zhou, Wang Yaowu and Wu Bolun became husband and wife.
Unfortunately, the good times did not last long, and in 1968, Wang Yaowu died in Beijing People's Hospital at the age of 64 due to ineffective medical treatment.
In 1980, at the meeting of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, it was unanimously decided to hold a grand memorial service for Wang Yaowu, including three people, and placed their ashes in the Babaoshan Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery in Beijing.
This is enough to show that the party and the state have fully affirmed his military contributions.

As Chiang Kai-shek's subordinate and as a Kuomintang general, it is undeniable that he also made wrong decisions in his life, but these decisions could not erase all his contributions to the country.
Just as Chairman Mao said: "Meritorious work is merit, passing is passing", his struggle on the battlefield of resistance against Japan will never be forgotten by the people, and his heroic deeds will always be passed down.
In this life, he can attack or live, but in the end, in order to be able to make the country peaceful as soon as possible and let the people live a peaceful and stable life, he has also worked hard for this, and he is a well-deserved national hero.
