Halogen perovskite solar cells are now close to commercialization. In the transition from academic research to industrialization, standardized test protocols and reliable performance metrics are essential. In this study, the authors analyzed data from more than 16,000 publications in the perovskite database to investigate the hypothetical equivalence between the integrated external quantum efficiency and the short-circuit current measured by JV. The authors found systematic differences, which were on average 4% higher. This difference does not change over time, perovskite composition, and device structure, and this finding suggests the need to explore new perovskite physics and update reporting protocols and assumptions in the field.
