In February 1950, Premier Zhou Enlai waited for Chairman Mao at the Juxiang Book House in Fengze Garden in Zhongnanhai. Since the founding of New China, Chairman Mao changed the small house in the north of Fengzeyuan into his own apartment, named Juxiang Bookhouse, which means that the garden pine does not change the color of green onions, and the potted chrysanthemum still relies on pure incense. It became the place where Chairman Mao lived and handled official business.
On the same day, Zhou Enlai entered the room, and Chairman Mao was busy reviewing documents. He sat silently and waited. Documents piled up until Chairman Mao finally finished his work and noticed Zhou Enlai sitting there.
Chairman Mao asked, "Enlai, when did you arrive?" Why don't you call me? ”
Zhou Enlai approached with a smile: "Chairman, that Zhao Hongwenguo captured by the Southwest Military Region a few days ago..."
Chairman Mao interrupted him, took out a document from the archives, sighed and said: "Enlai, I know that you have come to intercede for her, and I also know that she has made meritorious contributions in the War of Resistance Against Japan, but the sins committed by this person are too deep and must be shot!" ”
Zhao Hongwenguo, a woman born in 1881, was bound to feudal customs as a child, and her feet were wrapped in three-inch golden lotuses. However, her life was extraordinary, she married the Zhao family in a neighboring village and had a son. Zhao Hongwenguo was open-minded and often helped poor families, gradually gaining a good reputation in the village. In 1931, when Japan invaded, she resolutely led the villagers to organize peasant armed forces to fight the invaders. Her fame spread throughout the countryside and even won praise from Feng Yuxiang.
However, after the end of the War of Resistance, Zhao Hongwenguo's fate was reversed. She defected to the Kuomintang reactionaries and was appointed commander of the Second Route Army of the Guerrilla Route Army in the Liaoning Border Region of Hebei. Driven by the pursuit of power and profit, she betrayed her ideas and threw herself into the camp of reactionaries. Her command expanded to more than 4,000 people, armed with a large number of weapons and ammunition. However, she also became ruthless, torturing captives and treating humanity mercilessly in order to gain merit. In the end, the victory of the Northeast Field Army forced her to flee to Taiwan.
In 1949, the People's Liberation Army began to understand the Zoom Southwest Campaign, and Zhao Hongwen was in the Sichuan region. She continues to strengthen her power, but she also becomes a notorious female devil, robbing the people and committing countless evil deeds. Although the PLA tried to appease her, she refused, and even attacked the PLA, resulting in the sacrifice of numerous soldiers. Eventually, she was captured alive.
On February 9, 1950, the Southwest Military Region of the People's Liberation Army was established, and the fate of Zhao Hongwenguo became the focus of discussion. Although some advocated appeasing her, Chairman Mao insisted that she must be shot. He pointed out that despite her merits, her crimes were too deep and suffered countless comrades and ordinary people. In the end, Zhao Hongwenguo was executed, ending her tortuous and contradictory life.
