Disney Treasure will set sail in December 2024. It will be a sister ship to Disney Wish

Entertainment giant Disney announced in a video presentation late Tuesday morning that it would add a sixth cruise ship to its growing cruise line.

It will be named "Disney Treasure" and filled with the colorful pop culture themes you'd expect, paying homage to The Lion King, Marvel Super Heroes, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Star Wars. And something else.

But don't pack your bags yet. Disney said in a press release that the Treasure, a sister ship to Disney Wish, launched in 2022, is scheduled to make its maiden voyage on December 21, 2024. It will leave Port Canaveral, Florida, for a seven-night cruise to the Eastern Caribbean. Afterwards, the ship will depart from Port Canaveral for a seven-night journey in the Eastern and Western Caribbeans.

While the first voyage is still more than a year away, die-hard Disney cruise line fans can reserve their seats much earlier. Disney Cruise Line Rafting Club members will begin accepting reservations this September 12. According to the press release, reservations are open to all guests from September 20.

Here are some highlights:

Fancy water rides are becoming a staple of family cruises. The treasure has its own gemstones.

The ride called "AquaMouse: The Curse of the Golden Egg" will hang above the upper deck. The water jets will spray the two-man vehicle through a winding pipe of 760 feet (232 meters), providing an animated view of Mickey Mouse as well as views of the ocean and the ships below. Disney Wish also has AquaMouse attractions.

For smaller kids, there will be a Toy Story splash area, wading pool, family waterslide and smoothie bar on board. Adults who need to take a break with their children can head to "Quiet Cove", which features an infinity pool, poolside bar and café.

Disney's Hall of Treasures was inspired by "the grandeur and mystery of a gilded palace... and draws on real-world influences from Asia and Africa. ”

The "Main Street of America" at sea, which is equivalent to the ship's "Aladdin" themed hall, "will become the most prominent gathering space on board, inspiring curiosity and exploration on every voyage," the press release said. Guests can watch performances, meet people and listen to musical performances here.

Sarabi (named after the "Lion King" matriarch) will be a two-story hangout reminiscent of the African savannah and featuring events such as "Villain Game Night."

Guests can also enjoy a Broadway-style theater as well as a cinema that hosts Beauty and the Beast and DisneySea.
