The predecessor of the hospital was Shengjingshi Hospital founded in 1883 by the British Medical Doctor Situge in Shengjing (now Shenyang), which was the first western hospital in Northeast China. In 21949, it was taken over by China Medical University and renamed the Second Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University. In 2003, it was renamed "Shengjing Hospital" when it was established 120 years ago.
