Xinxian Road, built in the 20s of the last century, was called Roman Street, when Japan occupied Qingdao, this road was also called Noyama Town, and after the Beiyang government took back Qingdao, it was named Xinxian Road, which has been used to this day.
It used to be an important gathering place for aquatic products at the small port wharf, and the common people called it Houhai. Xinxian Road is connected to Fan County Road to the south and Guanxian Road to the north. Since ancient times, the "West Dashen" market and the "Caishilou" market, which have been famous among the people of Qingdao, are all on Xinxian Road.
In the past, there was a wholesale aquatic products market at the north end of Xinxian Road, a flyover market at the south end, and a local products street in the middle, with 106 large and small grocery stores, and various commodities were very prosperous. Although it has evolved and no longer exists, the tradition of commerce and trade has survived.
Xiaogang 1st Road, is an old alley behind the customs, 634.00 meters long and 11.00 meters wide. It was named in 1923 and is still in use today. Xiaogang Road is close to Xiaogang Wharf, and the old Xiaogang Road is full of inns, restaurants, freight companies, local miscellaneous products, coal transportation and other companies. The shops are crowded and distinctive, and the whole street is very lively.
With the transformation of Xiaogang, all the old houses of Xiaogang were demolished, all the buildings have disappeared, and this has become the most completely disappeared old town of Old Qingdao.
