There is a sports park "hidden" in the west of Shanghai's outer ring - in the special event of the "high-quality development in Shencheng" series of themed municipal government press conferences held in Changning District on August 31, the reporter experienced this "treasure space" with an underground construction area of nearly 40,000 square meters in the Hongqiao Sports Park located in the Hongqiao Linkong Economic Demonstration Zone.
At present, Hongqiao Sports Park and Linkong Music Park have been connected to the ecological greenway of the outer ring forest belt in Changning District and the 11.2-kilometer slow travel system of the Changning section of Suzhou Creek. In the next step, Changning District will make use of the ecological advantages of the outer ring forest belt, combined with the design of the landscape post station to create the outer ring city park, to realize the transformation of this urban "green ribbon" from a shelter forest to an urban park, and will also be exhibited as a sample exhibition area of the urban space art season this year.
"Interstellar Sports Metropolis" under the surface
Hongqiao Sports Park is located at No. 820 Suining Road, bordered by the outer ring road in the east, Suining Road in the west, Beizhai Road Elevated in the north, and Tianshan West Road in the south, only 3.8 kilometers away from Hongqiao Comprehensive Transportation Hub, and the main entrance of the park is 1.3 kilometers away from Songhong Road Station of Metro Line 2.
According to reports, the ground green space of Hongqiao Sports Park covers a total area of about 118,900 square meters, with a total construction area of 41,600 square meters, of which the underground construction area reaches 39,600 square meters, breaking the space restrictions caused by height restrictions around the airport. The park has a single building on the ground floor and a large underground space, which is divided into five areas, including an underground garage with 270 parking spaces, a comprehensive sports center, a swimming pool, a sunken central plaza and supporting commercial and leisure facilities.
Walking into Hongqiao Sports Park, you can see not only the vast green space, but also the underground space along the steps, and you can also see venues for swimming, basketball, badminton, squash, fencing, skateboarding and other large-scale sports. Combined with the location characteristics of the airport park near Hongqiao Airport, the underground space design of the entire sports park is inspired by aerospace elements, creating a unique atmosphere of "interstellar sports metropolis". The theme sports venue located underground is named after the eight planets, and when sports enthusiasts meet for activities, they can tell the staff the name of the planet to find the corresponding location.
Hongqiao Sports Park also carries the important functions of the national airport economic demonstration zone, and will become a new landmark of sports culture in the Greater Hongqiao area, helping to create a first-class business environment in the airport.
Hong Feifei, deputy general manager of Linkong Company, introduced that Hongqiao Sports Park, which is deeply integrated into the Linkong Economic Park, will fully integrate elements such as ecology, public welfare, professionalism, intelligence, and fashion, actively introduce and cultivate events, assist in cultivating sports talents, incubate sports communities, and carry out quality activities, especially to meet the diversified needs of surrounding enterprises, white-collar workers and community residents such as fitness, team building, competitions, youth training, and leisure, so that the park will be more comprehensive and one-stop functional features.

Su Liqiong, deputy director of Changning District Planning and Resources Bureau, introduced that Changning District is one of the earliest central urban areas in Shanghai to start urban renewal, and in 2017 it released the city's first district-wide urban renewal plan, successfully practicing a number of neighborhood renewal and urban renewal projects such as Yuyuan Road, Wuyi Road, Shangsheng Xinsuo, Baodi Xinhua, as well as representatives of urban renewal of people's livelihood such as the Su River shoreline connection, the outer ring green belt, boutique communities, and habitat gardens.
Changning District is also the only central urban area in Shanghai in the northbound expansion belt of the functional layout of Hongqiao International Opening Hub "One Core and Two Belts", and Chengjiaqiao Street, Xinjing Town and Linkong Park in the area form the Changning Area of Hongqiao International Opening Hub with an area of 19.9 square kilometers, that is, the East Hongqiao Area.

Among them, the ecological greenway of the outer ring forest belt of Changning District is located 100 meters west of the outer ring road, which is an important part of the slow travel system in Changning's airport area, and the 6.25-kilometer-long ecological greenway has also promoted Changning to take the lead in realizing the regional connection of the outer ring forest belt in the city.
Wang Yefei, deputy director of Changning District Greening and Amenities Bureau, introduced that the wild Changning Outer Ring Ecological Greenway has a variety of plant populations, with a total of about 150 new and excellent plant species, forming a four-season landscape with clear layers, rich colors, and staggered spring, summer, autumn and winter. The landscape along the greenway includes waterfront, forest, grassland, wetland and other elements, forming a distinctive green landscape corridor in western Shanghai.
The greenway is also set up with "six-in-one" technical defense facilities integrating monitoring, lighting, broadcasting, WIFI, alarm and electronic screen functions, and also has various signage, leisure seats, mobile public toilets, beverage vending machines, automatic lockers, robot coffee machines, mobile phone chargers, umbrella rental machines, etc., to provide supporting guarantees for different sports and leisure needs such as walking, road running, bicycles, and sports events.
The reporter learned that Changning District will also incorporate more urban space and municipal infrastructure into the urban renewal plan. Following urban renewal projects such as the space under the Central Bridge and the Tianshan Sewage Plant, the renovation of urban public facilities such as Jiangsu Road subway station and No. 72 bus station is also being studied and promoted, and it is planned to superimpose functions such as green space rest, community services, and municipal transportation, and strive to realize the transformation of urban facilities from a single function to a high-quality composite function space, and further realize the intensive and economical use of land.
