It is clear that Canada's military deployment in the Indo-Pacific region is not out of its own strategic needs, but to curry favor with its "master" the United States. The United States has been promoting its so-called "Indo-Pacific strategy" in an attempt to contain and contain China's development in the Asian region. The United States also regularly sends warships and aircraft to conduct so-called "freedom of navigation" and "routine cruises" in the Taiwan Strait in an attempt to break China's effective control over the Taiwan Strait. As a loyal subordinate of the United States, Canada naturally wants to follow the footsteps of the United States and put pressure on China on the Taiwan issue. Canada has announced the Taiwan Strait in advance this time, which is to create momentum for itself, and at the same time show the world Canada's strength and sense of existence, and prove its value to the US "master".
However, the oversailing of Canadian warships is not consistent with international law and practice. Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory, and the Taiwan Strait is China's internal sea and is not part of international waters. According to article 38 of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, foreign warships may pass through international waterways in their territorial sea only with the consent of the littoral State and in compliance with its provisions. Therefore, Canadian warships are not authorized to pass through the Taiwan Strait without permission from the Chinese government. Canada claims that this is an act based on the "rules" and is in fact a violation of the "rules".
One thing Canada should make clear about is that China has the ability to stop the oversailing of Canadian warships. China has always adhered to the one-China principle and safeguarded national sovereignty and territorial integrity. China has also been strengthening its ability to control the Taiwan Strait and improve its ability to respond to external provocations. In June this year, the United States and Canada jointly sent warships to stir up the situation in the Taiwan Strait. At that time, the Chinese side took tough measures, almost directly staging the scene of "our ship was ordered to hit your ship". Eventually, the U.S. and Canadian warships fled. If Canada dares to come to the Taiwan Strait again this time to do things, China can directly block the Taiwan Strait, force the Canadian warship to return the same way, and let Canada see the "hospitality" of the PLA.
Canadian warships are going to sail through the Taiwan Strait, and they dare to give advance warning, they are owed to knock, and your American "master" did not teach you well, then let China set rules for you. China has the right and ability to stop the passage of Canadian warships, and it must also take necessary measures to safeguard its own interests and dignity, otherwise Zhang San and Li Si will dare to come to the Taiwan Strait for a circle.
