On the battlefield of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, in order to contain the volunteers, the US military planted various mines around the camp. Early one morning, an American squad came out on patrol and stepped on a mine unguarded, killing him instantly. Hearing the movement, the US military came out one after another to check the situation, and seeing this scene, everyone was stunned.
They obviously acted according to the signs they made before, so why did they step on mines?
What these US troops did not know was that the opponent they encountered was Yao Xianru, a demining hero of the volunteers.
Demining hero Yao Xianru
In 1927, Yao Xianru was born in an ordinary poor family in Lingtai, Gansu, and although his name showed the temperament of a reader, he had not read a single day.
Because of the poverty of his family, Yao Xianru has been begging with his mother since he was a child, herding sheep for the landlord every day when he was eight or nine years old, and over time, the sheep are getting fatter and fatter, but Yao Xianru is getting thinner and thinner.
It was a winter, and once Yao Xianru was so frozen that he couldn't stand not holding one of the landlord's wine cups, so he was severely beaten by the landlord. When he grew up, he went to the landlord's house to work as a long-term worker.
Every day was very difficult, and my sister was sent to work as a child bride at a very young age.
Soon, Yao Xianru was 20 years old, and once he was walking on the street, the local security chief saw this young man, and immediately ordered people to arrest him and forcibly enlist him as a strong man, training day by day in Ma Hongkui's troops in Ningxia, enduring the oppression of officers every day.
It was not until the liberation of Gansu in July 1949 that the People's Liberation Army rectified the local warlords, and since then Yao Xianru has joined the Chinese People's Liberation Army and began to fight in the South and the North.
After the liberation of the whole country, Yao Xianru returned to his hometown to farm with his comrades-in-arms and lived a busy agricultural life, and everyone contributed their own efforts to the construction of New China.
Not long after, the civil war between the north and south of the Korean Peninsula, with the participation of the United States, gradually led the war to the Yalu River on the Sino-Korean border, and for the security of the motherland, the party organization immediately held a meeting and decided to aid North Korea.
For a while, all the soldiers who learned of this signed up to go to North Korea, and Yao Xianru was no exception, resolutely put down his hoe and took the initiative to sign up.
Late at night on January 14, 1951, Yao Xianru crossed the Yalu River with the 63rd Army of the Chinese Volunteers. Soon after entering Korea, he caught up with the fifth battle, in which Yao Xianru served as the squad leader of the 8th squad of the 3rd Company of the 566th Regiment of the 189th Division, leading all the soldiers of the 8th squad to take an enemy outpost and eliminate 21 American gunners.
During the fierce struggle, Yao Xianru's left foot was unfortunately injured by an enemy shell, and after a few months of recuperation, he resolutely returned to the battlefield, and also became a communist at this time.
After the fifth battle, the two sides entered a period of rest, and although the war was over, the volunteers went to the American positions every night to launch an active attack, which made it impossible for the Americans to sleep peacefully every day. In order to stop the night attacks of the volunteers, the US army hid various mines around the camp.
These mines were a nuisance for volunteer soldiers, and no one had ever seen these strange things, let alone demines. In order to find a solution, the company commander took Yao Xianru to reconnoiter on a snowy night, and before setting out, the company commander repeatedly told Yao Xianru to be careful of the hidden mines.
But when the two were about to rush to the enemy's position, Yao Xianru suddenly felt that his feet seemed to be slightly tripped by something, and suddenly felt bad, squatted down to see, sure enough, three wires were exposed on the ground, gently pulled the snow away, and a boxy black thing appeared in front of the two people.
The mine had three thick and short strikers on it, and a small iron ring tied by three thin metal wires next to it. Originally, Yao Xianru could escape, but he realized that if he did not remove this mine, he would hurt other comrades. For safety, Yao Xianru asked the company commander to return to the camp first, and he slowly squatted down to study.
Yao Xianru had no tools in his hands, so he leaned down and rubbed back and forth with his teeth, even if his mouth was full of blood, he didn't care, and finally bit off the wire, at this time the mine had not exploded, Yao Xianru must have carefully dug out the mine.
Because before some fighters dug up the mine and still blew it up. Yao Xianru did not dare to take it lightly, went to a slope and slowly removed the detonator and thunder cap, and then threw the mine downhill without hearing a "bang". Yao Xianru was overjoyed in his heart, and felt that it was not too enjoyable, so he found several mines of different appearance and successfully dismantled them in the same way.

Steal the day
A few days later, another dark and windy night, Yao Xianru took a few soldiers with steel tongs and quietly went to the area around the US military camp to test the learning results.
This time with experience and tools, the speed increased significantly, and after a while, they removed more than fifty mines of the American army, and it would not be a pity that so many fruits of victory were thrown, and the soldiers transported these mines to the camp one after another, and by the way studied the assembly.
Since that day, every time the US military has just laid mines, they can always remove these mines and steal them that night, and the speed of the US troops laying mines is not even comparable to the speed at which Yao Xianru and they dig mines.
When the friendly troops nearby learned the news, they all "exploded" and wanted to learn from Yao Xianru how to remove mines, and the news spread throughout the troops.
Yao Xianru taught the camp a big lecture, he taught friendly troops his experience and some tips between different mines, and soon 15 infantry companies and 6 engineer companies and even the nearby people's army learned how to clear mines.
After the demining technology of each camp was perfected, the entire front began a "mine digging competition" to see which camp dug the most mines. Many fighters who are good at demining have gone to seize the mines of the US military.
In just a few days, all the mines of the American army were dug up by volunteer soldiers. Without the mines, the soldiers were not afraid, and captured many American troops who were sleeping soundly.
But how can so many mines that have been dismantled be put to good use? In the beginning, the soldiers took out the explosives inside to make fortifications, but because the number of mines was too large, this use alone could not be exhausted.
At this time, the company commander smiled and said to Yao Xianru that he would return these mines to those Yankees, and Yao Xianru and the company commander looked at each other and smiled after listening.
Sure enough, the next morning, a small group of American military "unlucky eggs" played a very beautiful music for everyone. In a flash, the US military was stunned, and they wondered if they had not made a mark when arranging it.
It turned out that these were all good methods that Yao Xianru and his comrades had come up with. They have already figured out the daily path that the US military must pass through, and the marks made by those US troops have long been familiar, and when they see the markings, they will take out the mines and replace them with a similar stone to confuse the US troops.
The real mines are re-buried, and the US military, of course, does not realize that the marks they made have long become pseudo-marks, and when they hide from the pseudo-markers, they will fall into the trap of our army.
Gradually, the US military found that more and more mines appeared around the camp, and had to attract their attention, but they really could not find flaws, so frightened that they did not dare to go out and hide in the camp, even if they wanted to go out, they had to find sappers to clear mines before acting.
In just a few months, Yao Xianru recovered 227 mines, plus a total of more than a thousand in his comrades' platoon. Of these, 300 were returned to the U.S. troops, resulting in more than 80 casualties and removing obstacles in the path of the volunteers.

In this war-torn Korean battlefield, Yao Xianru relied on his wisdom to bomb it with enemy thunder, and skillfully solved the problems that plagued the volunteers at that time.
His outstanding demining achievements and contributions were awarded first-class merit, and it can be said that Yao Xianru has not lost all parts of his body, and it is really rare to obtain first-class merit.
