Have you ever been in a situation where your plans are disrupted, your goals are hindered, and your life is trapped. You feel helpless, frustrated, hopeless, you don't know what to do, you want to give up, you want to run away. If you've ever had that experience, then I highly recommend you go to see a movie called Happy Terminal.
Happy Terminal is a 2004 comedy romance film directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Hanks and Catherine Zeta-Jones. It tells the story of a man from the small Eastern European country of Krakozia, Victor Navorsky (Tom Hanks), who comes to the United States to collect the autographs of jazz star Benny Galson in order to fulfill his father's wish. Unexpectedly, while on the plane, there was a coup in his country, his passport and visa failed, and he could not enter the United States or return home. He was forced to stranded at New York's Kennedy International Airport and began a bizarre nine-month journey.
During these nine months, Victor has experienced various difficulties and challenges. He didn't know English, he didn't know the environment, he had no money, no place to live, no friends. He is ostracized and suppressed by the head of the airport, Frank Dixon (Stanley Tucci). He develops feelings for flight attendant Emilia Warren (Catherine Zeta-Jones), but becomes entangled because of her affair with a married man. He also has to deal with turmoil and uncertainty in his own country.
However, in the midst of these adversities, Victor did not give up his dreams and dignity. He uses the resources and opportunities the airport offers to do his best to grow himself. He learns English, makes friends, gets jobs, helps others, and creates value. He has earned the respect and trust of airport staff and passengers with his wisdom and kindness. He used his courage and perseverance to fulfill his father's wish and walked out of the airport.
This movie inspired and moved me a lot. It made me understand a truth: doing your best to grow yourself is the only way to solve the dilemma. When we encounter difficulties, we cannot complain about fate, we cannot wait for rescue, we cannot give up hope. We need to believe in our ability to change our situation and achieve our goals. We need to constantly learn new knowledge, master new skills, and expand our horizons. We need to actively communicate with people, build good interpersonal relationships, and seek cooperation and support. We must bravely face challenges, adhere to our principles, and pursue our dreams.
In my opinion, this movie is not only a comedy romance film, but also an inspirational life film. It tells us that happiness has no end, only a beginning. As long as we keep working hard, making progress, and creating, we can find our own happiness anywhere, anytime.
