Behavioral Potential 1980

Respectfully known as the "Mother of Performance Art", Abramović has been using her body to explore the boundaries between human and art throughout her half-century artistic career, constantly creating new forms of expression. Her works are always full of strong visual and conceptual impact, at the cost of the pain of their own senses, touching people's deep thinking. As she puts it, "Joy doesn't teach us anything, but pain, suffering, and obstacles transform us and make us better and stronger." "At the same time, let's recognize the importance of living in the moment.

In 1988, performance artists Marina Abramović and Ulay traveled to China to complete their performance artwork The Lovers — The Great Wall Walk. Abramović starts from Shanhaiguan on the shores of the Bohai Sea and walks west along the Great Wall. Ulay starts from Jiayuguan in the Gobi and desert and travels east along the Great Wall. Over a period of three months, the two completed a long walk of 2,500 kilometers each, finally meeting at Shanhaiguan before saying goodbye. The Great Wall, which represents the regional, historical, political and cultural barriers, has also become a watershed in their love, life and artistic career.

The two have not contacted each other for three months, and they were very excited when they finally met, hugging, kissing, and congratulating each other, but still according to the previous agreement, they officially broke up after a simple greeting, leaving only this sad romance. It took them three months to walk towards each other, but to separate. They have not seen each other in more than 20 years since they separated.

The two waved goodbye, and 12 years of close cooperation came to an end. Since then, Uray has also disappeared from the performance art world.

After they broke up from the Great Wall, they each went to different worlds. However, it was not until March 2010, at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, that Marina Abramovich was full of emotion and tears rolled down because of her reunion with Uray. At this moment, her emotions were vented under the gaze of the world. It is a heart-touching reunion that evokes memories and emotions of old times. Abramovich's tears are a farewell to the past years and a deep miss for Ure. This encounter not only made the story of the two once again attract global attention, but also made people feel the power of art and emotional shock. It is a classic moment in art history that will forever be etched in people's memories.

Abramovich sat there quietly, motionless. Despite the hot light of the overhead lights, she still stood by her posture. Dressed in bright red, dark green or light white robes, she was tightly wrapped. Her hands rested slightly stiffly on her knees. She always looked straight ahead, her face expressionless, and her whole face showed a mysterious and pale brilliance. This scene seems to come from a fantasy realm, which makes people fall into a situation beyond reality. In her, art blends with calmness, revealing a mysterious and captivating atmosphere.

In this massive performance art, more than 1,500 people confront Abramović, including men and women, old people and children, as well as household names. All kinds of people were silent in front of her, crying, laughing, and she remained still.

She didn't know that Urei would come and look at her, and 22 years had passed, and the pain of their breakup had been lingering in her heart. Just a few seconds after Uray sat down, Abramovich's tears welled up, and she couldn't contain her emotions. Trembling, she reached out to shake his hand, clasped hands with her old lover, and burst into tears. This scene has also become a classic moment in the history of world performance art.

She once said, "There are all kinds of forces in the world, and I don't like them either, and they all imply the control of one over another." The only force that makes me feel comfortable is the energy of autonomy. ”
