Huo Yuanjia, who is heroic and martial, has fought all the masters, and when he fought with Cixi's guards, he only used two moves to admit defeat and leave? How strong is the other party, and why doesn't Huo Yuanjia fight him to the end?
As a famous patriotic martial artist in the late Qing Dynasty, Huo Yuanjia of Jinghai County, Tianjin, came from a family of dart masters and inherited the family's "Secret Fist" stunt.
Huo Yuanjia's childhood was not smooth, he was often absent from school due to his frailty and illness, but this did not stop his love for martial arts.
Under his father's tutelage, he began to learn and practice traditional martial arts. As he grew older, he showed extraordinary talent and courage, and gradually mastered various martial arts schools such as Taijiquan, Shape-Meaning Quan, Baguazhang, and Mantis Boxing.
Due to limited family conditions, Huo Yuanjia basically lived in his hometown until he was 27 years old. In order to make a living, he often picked firewood to sell in Tianjin.
After the age of 28, he decided to seek a better development in Tianjin. He became a dock stevedore and later worked at the Huaiqing Medicine Store opened by Nong Jinsun, and gradually rose to the rank of treasurer.
In 1909, 41-year-old Huo Yuanjia was invited to Shanghai to join the "Jingwu Gymnastics Club" founded by Chen Gongzhe and Chen Tiesheng. It is an organization dedicated to promoting martial arts, improving national physique, and patriotic education.
In the Jingwu gymnastics meeting, Huo Yuanjia received guidance from Chen Gongzhe and Chen Tiesheng and constantly honed his martial arts skills. He has won widespread praise for his superb martial arts level and brave spirit, and has practiced the belief of "protecting the country with force" with his actions.
However, Huo Yuanjia's life was very short. In 1910, he died of illness at the age of 42. His heroic deeds and contributions to the country will always be remembered in the history of the mainland, and Sun Yat-sen once highly praised Huo Yuanjia's courage and patriotic spirit, and inscribed four big characters "Shangwu Spirit" at the 10th anniversary commemorative meeting of the Jingwu Association in recognition of his contribution.
As a great figure in the modern martial arts history of the mainland, Huo Yuanjia's strength is naturally undoubted. So, why did he declare his defeat in the battle with the Cixi guards with only two moves?
This fierce warrior who made Huo Yuanjia take the initiative to choose to admit defeat was Li Ruidong, the founder of the Li Pai boxing method.
Born in 1851, Li Ruidong is also known as Yanxia Yishi, and his Li Pai Taijiquan was included in the fourth batch of "National Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage", which is enough to show his contribution to the martial arts community.
Li Ruidong was born into a wealthy family, his father Li Xiaoqi was a county magistrate and proficient in medical skills, and his family had more than 40 acres of good land and more than 80 houses.
Since childhood, Li Ruidong has developed a strong interest in various boxing techniques and weapon techniques, and began to learn different foreign boxing techniques such as Shaolin.
When he was a teenager, he asked Li Laosui, a master of foot poke in Raoyang, Hebei Province, to learn the foot poking door boxing method. Later, he married Dao Wang Wu into Jinlan, discussed martial arts with each other, and learned the essence of "Shandong Sect Bullet Legs" from Dao Wang Wu.
With his outstanding talent and diligent cultivation, he had already honed outstanding martial arts as an adult. Li Ruidong, who repeatedly won battles, became famous and was revered by the locals.
He fused the essence of various martial arts and founded the Chinese Li Taijiquan, which is known as the culmination of the collection of sages and the essence of ancient and modern martial arts.
In 1894, Li Ruidong performed martial arts for Cixi Dashou, and his boxing skills made Cixi praise him as "Great Inner Flying Eagle", and thus became Cixi's bodyguard.
In terms of teaching, Li Ruidong's sons Li Zhaotang and Li Zhaodi and nephew Li Zhaoyin represented Li Pai's teaching work in the Chinese Samurai Society.
Later, Li Zhaoyin and Jiang Zhizhong founded the "Guangwu Society" and were called to teach at Nankai Middle School. Li Ruidong himself often taught in Beijing and went to the Tianjin Samurai Society from time to time to give guidance.
However, Li Ruidong's life came to an abrupt end in 1917. On the 28th day of the lunar month, he returned to Wuqing's home from the capital to celebrate the New Year, but unfortunately died of poisoning due to improper use of coal stoves at the age of 66.
As the founder of Li Pai Quan and an important descendant of Chinese Taijiquan, his contribution and influence on martial arts cannot be ignored.
He fused the essence of various martial arts and founded Li Pai Taijiquan, leaving a valuable martial arts legacy for future generations. His achievements and teachings will continue to inspire people to explore the way of martial arts and inherit the essence of mainland martial arts culture.
The young Huo Yuanjia was famous at that time, and naturally liked to find people everywhere to single out to prove his strength, and Li Ruidong, who gradually withdrew from the public eye but was still famous, became Huo Yuanjia's target.
In 1906, Huo Yuanjia came to Li Ruidong to compete. In the competition arena, Li Ruidong proposed that he stand in place without moving, and let Huo Yuanjia kick out three times. If Li Ruidong moved, Huo Yuanjia would win.
Huo Yuanjia was angry at this, thinking that it was provoking him. So, after waiting for Li Ruidong to tie up his horse, he launched a kick without hesitation.
However, to Huo Yuanjia's surprise, Li Ruidong was unmoved and caught this kick motionlessly. Huo Yuanjia made up his mind and went all out to kick the second kick, but Li Ruidong still remained calm.
At this time, Huo Yuanjia already understood that even if he made another third shot, he would not be able to knock out Li Ruidong, so he chose to admit defeat.
