Recently, the 2023 Hainan (Wenchang) Township Volleyball League, known as "village volleyball", ended in Wenchang, Hainan, the hometown of volleyball. Over the past month, a total of 20 township men's volleyball teams from Wenchang, Haikou, Qionghai and Chengmai in Hainan have competed fiercely.
The local atmosphere runs through the whole process of the "village platoon". Many of the participating players are fishermen, farmers or agricultural product traders. Inside the field, many players came on the field barefoot, bouncing and smashing like a rainbow. On the sidelines, cheerleaders beat gongs, drums, cheers and jumps; Outside the venue, the audience was full, standing on benches, climbing stairs, climbing trees... People are doing their best to see the event. The championship prize of this competition is also very special, in addition to the prize money, there is a live cow and Wenchang chicken.
During the competition, local cultural content such as "stool volleyball", doll play, and Qiong opera won eyeballs. Located around the arena, the market with many specialties such as Wenchang chicken and coconut chicken is crowded. According to statistics, the local area received a total of 485,800 spectators during the "Village Volleyball" competition day, achieving a comprehensive tourism income of 280 million yuan.
Today, Wenchang has more than 600 volleyball courts, and volleyball has been integrated into the lives of Wenchang people. Young and old, people often play volleyball on the court and watch volleyball late into the night. As the representative of Wenchang volleyball, the Wenchang Middle School volleyball team has participated in many volleyball competitions for middle school students at home and abroad, and the trophies are placed on the two walls of the school history museum.
Although the "village volleyball" craze has ended, the local people's love for volleyball has been permanently stirred.
