This is the smallest bird I've photographed so far, only 9 centimeters long, and it's not easy to find it... Fortunately, it is brightly colored and very beautiful. Unfortunately only handsome guys.

Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker

Passeriformes of the family Passeriformes Nectariniidae Dicaeum cruentatum

Description: Small (9 cm) black and red pecking bird. Male: The crown , back and waist are scarlet , the wings , head and tail are black , the two flanks are gray , and the underbody remains are white. Female: Olive upperparts, scarlet waist and upper tail coverts, black tail. Sub-adults are clear grey with an orange beak and a slightly orange waist. Iris - brown; mouth - black green; feet - black green. Call: Typical calls are high metallic tip... tip... Tip;chirp for repetitive shrill tissit... tissit... sound. Range: India, Southern China, Southeast Asia, Sumatra and Borneo. Distribution: Nominate subspecies ( = erythronotum ) is uncommon in the lowland forests of southeastern Tibet , southern Yunnan , Guangxi , Guangdong and Fujian ; hainanum is a resident bird on Hainan Island. Habits: Sexually active, frequently visiting parasitic plants in secondary forests, forest gardens and plantations, up to 1000 meters above sea level.
