  Located on a major highway south of Bangkok, Thailand, Rayong Central Plaza is attracting attention for its exhilarating appearance. The commercial shopping mall, designed by Synthesis Design + Architecture, features CNC-milled aluminum composite "fins" manufactured and installed by PK Aluminum. ACM fins supplied by ALPOLIC were installed to create two surface "fields" that create a ripple effect along the concrete façade of the building. The two "zones" mentioned on the device are indicated by the color applied to one side of each aluminum fin. Synthetic design founder Alvin Huang has been describing the visual effects of architecture as "synthetic design" for some time: lens effects – visual effects that depend on the direction of the view. We are interested in trying to increase the level of visual interaction by means that people participate in the project.

  After extensive research and experimentation with different forms of digital rendering using Grasshopper for Rhino, a graphical algorithm editor used by designers to use with Rhino's built-in 3D modeling tools, the designers developed a series of surfaces defined by attractor curves to produce the mall's signature undulating façade installation. The end result of the designer's efforts is a visually appealing complex installation that elevates the appearance of the mall. This ingenious aesthetic is only enhanced by the application of bright, vibrant colors that pop up on the precast concrete façade.

  Since the focal point of the building is aluminum fins, these brightly colored decorations must remain in their original condition for a long time. To achieve this, Lumiflon FEVE resins are applied to aluminum composites for fins. FEVE-based coatings offer numerous advantages that are highly beneficial for highly exposed building structures. Lumiflon FEVE resin technology provides durability, excellent color and gloss retention, and excellent weather resistance.
