Mainland teachers and students visited Dadaocheng to feel the ancient taste of Taipei

Taihai Net, July 20 (Straits Herald stationed in Taiwan reporter Xue Yang trainee reporter Yu Shulin text / photo) On the afternoon of the 19th, 37 teachers and students from five mainland colleges and universities visited Taipei's Damaocheng to understand the past and present life of Taipei's old town and appreciate the ancient taste of Taipei.

In the history of Taipei, Dadaocheng succeeded Mengjia (now Wanhua) at the end of the Qing Dynasty as the most prosperous place in Taipei, and was one of the three city streets in Taipei at that time. Everyone stopped in front of a palace temple and picked up their mobile phones to take pictures. "This is the Xiahai City God Temple, and it is also from the mainland!" The tour guide said that in 1853, there was an armed fight among the residents of Mengjia, and the people from Tong'an County, Fujian Province were defeated, snatched the golden body of Xiahai City God in the fire, retreated to Dadaocheng, and established the Xiahai City God Temple in 1859, which became the religious center of Dadaocheng and was a well-known Yuelao Temple at home and abroad.

Nowadays, Dadaocheng is one of Taipei's famous attractions. Different from the prosperity of Xinyi business district, tourists come to Dadaocheng to visit Chinese medicine shops, Yongle Market, worship the City God Temple, eat some roadside snacks, and drink a cup of grass tea that reduces the fire, which is a very good experience.

In the morning of the same day, accompanied by Ma Ying-jeou, the delegation of teachers and students of mainland universities went to visit and exchange at National Taiwan University, and Guan Zhongmin, former president of NTU, greeted him outside the school gate. Founded in 1928, NTU is the first institution of higher education on the island, and now it has the largest number of students in Taiwan, the largest university on the island, and the alma mater of Ma Ying-jeou. NTU's scientific research strength has always ranked first on the island, ranking 68th in the QS World University Rankings last year, and its alumni have won top international academic awards such as the Nobel Prize, Turing Award, and Wolf Award. In addition, four leaders of the Taiwan region walked out of NTU.

Wen Yunhao, a senior in the history department at Peking University, is visiting Taiwan for the second time, first in the summer of 2016. In an interview, he called out: "I am very happy to come to Taiwan again!" ”

Talking about his feelings on cross-strait exchanges, Wen Yunhao said that everyone is a young person of the same generation, has a lot of common language, and is very interested in knowing which film and television works Taiwan students will watch and what music works they will listen to. Wen Yunhao said that he turned on the TV in the Taiwan hotel and saw that the TV station was broadcasting mainland TV dramas such as "The Legend of Zhen Huan", and mainland young people would also watch Taiwanese film and television works, hoping that these exchanges could narrow the distance between them.

When students from both sides of the strait exchanged at NTU, Zheng Yixuan of Hunan University said that everyone is young and interested in socializing, eating, drinking, and other topics, and there will be no obstacles to communication, because "we are all young people and we are all a family."
