West Ham manager David Moyes told Angie Postcoglu despite the Australian taking on one of the most difficult jobs in the Premier League

David Moyes backed Angie Postcoglu's success at Tottenham Hotspur after proving that he could handle pressure from Celtic.

The Australian won five trophies in two seasons with the Glasgow Giants before moving south to Tottenham last month.

While Postcogloo has won trophies in Australia, Japan and Scotland, Tottenham Hotspur is the most visible job of his career to date.

The 57-year-old has the task of rebuilding Tottenham after a lackluster season and may have to do so without Harry Kane, who remains linked to a move to Bayern Munich.

But Moyes believes Postcoglu's performance with the Celtics proves he's the right person for the job.

"He will never be under more pressure than managing Celtic Football Club," said Moyes, who played for Boy early in his career.

"Celtic is probably the third or fourth most supported club in the world and if you manage Celtic Football Club, you're used to pressure.

"So he won't have any problems."

Tottenham hosted West Ham United in Perth on Tuesday in a pre-season friendly in the third time that Postcoglu and David Moyes have faced each other as manager.

The Australian took charge of the Australian Premier League All-Stars and played Manchester United just months after succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.

Two years ago, Moyes led West Ham United to Celtic Park for a pre-season game, before Postcoglu's first season in charge of the Celtics began.

'Anjie is very nice. I was lucky that when I was Manchester United manager, we played Andrew Anjay in Melbourne," Moyes said earlier this week of his Tottenham opponents.

That was the first time we met. We were still playing against the Celtics at Celtic Park two years ago and I saw him again there.

"I always remember him giving me a very good bottle of Australian red wine and that's what I remember when I came here!

"When I saw him again in Glasgow, I gave him one. I'm looking forward to meeting him.

Moyes also revealed that the Australian sent him a message congratulating West Ham United on winning the title by beating Fiorentina 2-1 in the Europa League final in May.

The 60-year-old was equally impressed by Postcoglu's achievements, leading the Celtics to a domestic treble.

"I have to say that he sent me a good message after we won the final," Moyes said.

"He's been fantastic with the Celtics and winning the treble this year has been unbelievable, it is."
