The Force Fortress 2 summer community content update promised by V in February has arrived. This is the first major update for the classic game in a long time, with tons of new maps, cosmetic trinkets, emoticons, and cosmetic effects. And these things are all made by community members of the game.

There are 14 new maps: Sharkbay, Rotunda, Phoenix, Cashworks, Venice, Reckoner, Sulfur, Hardwood, Pelican Peak, Selbyen, VSH Tiny Rock, VSH Distillery, VSH Skirmish, and VSH Nucleus. There are 25 community-made trinkets in total, which will be available through Summer Trinket Chests.

In the in-game store, players can also purchase a variety of new emoticons, as well as 20 new effects, 8 of which can be used for emoji animations and 12 can be added to hats.

V is not doing nothing either: in the update, many fixes and improvements have also been made to the game.

After the launch of the summer update, according to SteamDB statistics, the number of simultaneous players playing Team Fortress 2 reached a record high in the game's history. The previous maximum of 167,000 concurrent players in the game has increased to 198,000, and as of press time, the number of players remains high at 194,000.
