Sometimes this happens when bad people change their hearts and become good. Other times, it is a temporary, precarious truce until the status quo returns to normal. This union can be a major plot twist or the basis for the entire movie (especially if it's a sequel).
The combination of hero and villain is especially good when the bad guys are more popular with the audience, or when the two have amazing chemistry. This can be a subtext from enemy to lover, or it can be a subtext that gradually wins mutual respect. Most importantly, teaming up with heroes and villains can challenge people's black-and-white perceptions of good and evil.

10, "Godzilla vs. Kong" (2021)
In the fourth installment of Legendary Pictures' Monster Universe, King Kong leaves his island and leads a group of scientists to Hollow Earth. He is soon challenged by Godzilla, as the legend of the monster world can only exist as one Alpha Titan at a time. But the big monkey and the atomic lizard must join forces to stop the mechanical Godzilla, a robot Godzilla who is busy making a mess of Hong Kong.
If you can put aside basic scientific beliefs (like Godzilla shooting a hole straight at the center of the Hollow Earth to annoy Kong), Godzilla vs. Kong is good, cheesy fun. The film shone at the box office ravaging the pandemic.
9, "Alien vs. Predator" (2004)
The age-old question of who built the pyramids is surprisingly answered in Alien vs. Predator. It turns out that it has always been done by the Predator. A huge pyramid is discovered in Antarctica, and a group of people, including Alyssa Woods (Sanna Lesser), begin to explore. Three Predators arrive at the pyramids, awakening an Alien Queen with terrible consequences for the now trapped humans – used as bait and alien incubators for Predator hunting parties.
Alyssa realizes that it is best to cooperate with the Predator, as the aliens will destroy humanity once they escape. She earned the respect of "Scar" in the fight and teamed up with him. It's an unexpected but appealing combination. Unfortunately, despite the popularity of the character Alyssa, she did not return to the series later.
8, "The Matrix 3: The Matrix Revolution" (2003)
Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) has turned into a dangerous rogue AI program that endangers the Matrix and the real world. To this end, Neo (Keanu Reeves) visits the leader of the machine, the "Machine Emperor", and proposes a truce. If the machine stops attacking Zion, the last human city, he will stop Smith.
"The Matrix 3: The Matrix Revolution" was not well received by critics, and its box office performance was significantly lower than that of previous films. Still, the blindfolded Neo's meeting with the god-like "Machine Emperor" was a visually stunning moment, with some dazzling special effects.
7, "Pirates of the Caribbean 3: World's End" (2007)
The third installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series tells the story of the resurrected Captain Barbersa (Jeffrey Rush) who helps rescue Captain Jack (Johnny Depp). Although Jack is his former enemy, Barbosa knows that Jack is one of the nine pirate leaders who gathered the Brotherhood – something the pirates needed to fight the East India Trading Company.
Film critics have had mixed reviews of "World's End", mainly due to its complex plot. Still, Depp and Rush have had a great time working together on screen for the first time since Barbosa's death at the end of Pirates of the Caribbean 1. Both actors have played their roles in "Strange Waves" and "Death Without Proof".
6, "X-Men: Back to the Future" (2014)
In this time-traveling X-Men movie series, Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) travels back in time to try to stop Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) from assassinating a politician. He meets the frustrated Professor X (James McAvoy) and convinces him to join Quicksilver (Evan Peters) to get Magneto (Michael Fassbender) out of prison. For a while, Professor X and Magneto became allies.
One of the best scenes in X-Men: Back to the Future is a heated argument between Professor X and Magneto on a rescue plane, with Magneto scolding Professor X for abandoning his mutant family. Critics praised the actors' performances and praised the film as the strongest in the X-Men franchise.
5, "Batman: The Dark Knight Rises" (2012)
The reclusive Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) is robbed by the snitch Selina Kyle (Anne Hathaway). As Batman and Catwoman, the duo often meet and eventually join forces to stop Bane (Tom Hardy) from destroying Gotham City.
The Dark Knight Rises is the final installment in director Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. At first, fans strongly objected to the casting of Catwoman actor Hathaway, but her performance eventually received praise from critics and audiences alike. The chemistry between her and Bell's Batman is fantastic, and Selina's appearance in this happy ending is satisfying.
4, "The Lord of the Rings 2: The Two Towers" (2002)
Frodo (Ilya Wood) and Sam (Sean Astin) are hunted down by Gollum (Andy Serkis) as they seek to bring the Lord of the Rings to Mordor. The two capture him, but out of pity and frustration, they agree to let Gollum be their guide. Gollum struggles inwardly to accept Frodo's kindness and his hatred for Baggins, as well as his endless desire for the ring.
The Twin Towers was critically acclaimed for its motion capture technology and won an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. Serkis' role as the poor but evil Gollum earned him an MTV Movie Award, for which he delivered a memorable acceptance speech.
3, "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" (1991)
In the second film in the Terminator series, T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is reprogrammed and sent back in time to protect Sarah (Linda Hamilton) and John (Edward Fulong). Given that the T-800 had been trying to kill Sarah and prevent John from being born in the first Terminator movie, the Connors were scared at first. However, Sarah and John learn to trust the T-800 and accept his protection.
It's fun to watch this passionate killer robot connect with a teenager, learn to high-five, and understand why humans cry. Many critics agree that Terminator 2: Judgment Day is Schwarzenegger's best performance. The farewell shot at the end of the film, the thumbs up gesture, is really tear-jerking.
2, "Thor 3: Ragnarok" (2017)
Portal (Chris Hemsworth) returns to Valhalla to find Loki (Tom Hiddleston) pretending to be Odin (Anthony Hopkins), as Loki is believed to have died tragically. Thor drags Loki to Earth to rescue their father, from whom they learn about the existence of a super-powerful, murderous older sister, Hela (Cate Blanchett).
Thor 3: Ragnarok isn't the first time the two brothers have collaborated, but it's the most enjoyable one yet. The relationship between brothers changed from traditional brotherly rivalry to reluctant close allies. Loki shows his most charming and sinister side, and Thor is one step ahead of him this time. Director Taiga Waititi made the right decision to let Hemsworth use his comedic talents, and two of the film's funniest moments were improvised or conceived by him.
1, "Star Wars 8: The Last Jedi" (2017)
Rey (Daisy Ridley) voluntarily sends herself to enemies after a deep Force bond with enemy Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). She believes Kylo will get better, even if Kylo takes her directly to his master, Supreme Leader Snooker (Andy Serkis). The latter orders Kylo to kill Rey, but shockingly, he kills Snooker. Rey and Kylo teamed up, wielding lightsabers back to back, against Snooker's six Janissaries.
The Last Jedi is a very decisive film, but critics and many viewers agree that this lightsaber battle is purely a small part of the movie. It's a chaotic and violent duel, not a civilized lightsaber duel, and director Ryan Johnson wants Rey and Kylo to truly "tear the throne room." This fight can also be interpreted as the culmination of a sexually tense relationship between the two.
