Room 237: A Hidden Secret!!

Wendy and Danny escape from the hotel in a critical moment, while Jack is frozen to death in a maze outside the hotel. The film opens with Jack Torrance driving to the Overlook Hotel in the Rocky Mountains, Colorado, to interview for a job as a winter caretaker. On the way, he heard a radio saying that a snowstorm was about to hit the area. Meanwhile, his wife, Wendy, and son Danny ate breakfast at home. Danny has an imaginary friend, Tony, who lives in Danny's mouth and can tell Danny something. Tony showed Danny some horrific images, including two little girls in blue dresses, a pool of blood pouring out of the elevator, a sign with "REDRUM" written on it, and more.

Upon arrival at the hotel, Jack was greeted by the hotel manager, Stuart Ullman. Ullman told Jack that the hotel closes for five months each year on Oct. 30 until it reopens in May of the following year. He said the job of the winter warden is to maintain the hotel's facilities and prevent any accidents. He also mentioned a disturbing incident: In 1970, former caretaker Delbert Grady killed his wife and two daughters with an axe in a hotel and then blew off his own head with a shotgun. Ullman said Grady may have developed "cabin fever" from her prolonged isolation. Jack didn't care, saying that he was a writer and could use this time to write. He also said that his wife, Wendy, is a person who loves horror novels and that she will be interested in this story. Ullman agreed to hire Jack and told him to move into the hotel with his family by October 30.

Wendy hosted a pediatrician at home who asked about Danny's health. Doctors found a bruise on Danny's arm, which Wendy explained was injured by Jack's hand three years ago due to alcoholism. She said Jack has since quit drinking and their marriage is happy. The doctor asks Danny if he has any special friends, and Danny says he has a friend named Tony, who lives in Danny's mouth and sometimes asks Danny to do things. The doctor asked if Tony was Danny's imaginary friend, and Danny nodded yes. The doctor reassured Danny that this was normal and that many children had imaginary friends.

When Jack got home, he told Wendy and Danny that he had got a job at the hotel and that they were moving in by October 30. Wendy and Danny were happy and they felt it was a great opportunity. Tony was upset by this, and he warned Danny not to go to the hotel.

On October 30, Jack's family arrived at the Yuanwang Hotel. Ullman and other staff introduced them to various parts of the hotel, including kitchens, guest rooms, ballrooms, TV rooms, and more. Head chef Dick Hallorann takes Wendy and Danny on a tour of the pantry and tells them that the hotel has a variety of food that is enough for them to survive the winter. Halloran discovers that Danny also has the ability to "shine", that is, to be able to communicate with others telepathically or see some supernatural things. Halloran talks to Danny in private, telling him that "The Shining" is a special talent that not everyone has. He also told Danny that there were some "memories" in the hotel, just like old photos, that weren't real and couldn't hurt anyone. He specifically reminded Danny not to enter room 237 because there was something bad there.

That evening, all the staff left the hotel, leaving only Jack's family. Jack began writing in his room, while Wendy took care of the housework and Danny. The movie appeared with a black screen subtitle "One month later". Since then, the film has marked the chronological order in which the film took place with black screen subtitles, including "Tuesday", "Thursday", "Saturday", "next Monday", "next Wednesday", "next Thursday", and so on. Jack had trouble writing, and he became irritable and irritable. Wendy, on her part, did her best to keep the family running, and she spoke to Park Rangers on the radio every day to report on the hotel. Danny, who often rides a tricycle in the hotel, sees horrific sights such as the ghosts of two little girls, the keys to room 237, a pool of blood gushing out of the elevator, and so on. Tony constantly warns Danny to stay away from that room, but Danny's curiosity drives him to explore.

One day, Wendy brings breakfast to Jack and finds him repeatedly typing "all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" on a typewriter. Horrified, she realizes that Jack has lost his mind, and she tries to comfort him, but Jack throws a tantrum at her, accusing her of interfering with his writing. Wendy picks up a baseball bat and threatens Jack not to come near her. Jack mocks her for not having the courage to hurt him and says that neither she nor Danny can leave the hotel. Wendy fled in fright.

Meanwhile, Danny is lured into room 237, where he sees a naked young woman in the bathroom, and she walks out of the tub and hugs Danny. But when Danny looks up, he realizes that the woman has turned into a rotten old woman, and she wants to strangle Danny. Danny escapes the room after breaking free, but is left with a scar on his arm.

When Wendy discovers that Danny is injured, she thinks that Jack is responsible, and she runs to Jack in a panic. Jack said he had just returned from room 237 and he hadn't seen anything out of the ordinary. He said Danny might have injured himself or Tony. Wendy didn't believe him, and she said she was going to get out of here with Danny. Jack refused her request and said he had signed a contract and could not go against his duties. He also said he had a special feeling for the hotel, just like he had been here before.

Room 237: A Hidden Secret!!

After Jack walked out of the room, he met a man in a dress in the ballroom, calling himself Delbert Grady. Grady said he was the former caretaker, the one who killed his own family. He told Jack that he had to "correct" his wife and son because they were disobedient and wanted to leave the hotel. He also said that Danny had been in contact with Haroran, the black chef, and that they both had "Shining" abilities that would threaten Jack's plans. Jack agreed to Grady's request, saying he would do his part.

At her home in Florida, Halloran senses Danny's distress signal through the Shining. He immediately called the local police and asked them to check on the hotel. The police said they had contacted the hotel and everything was fine. Halloran was not at ease and decided to drive himself to the hotel.

Wendy radioed the park ranger, but there was no response. She discovers that Jack has cut the power cord from the radio, and she realizes that she and Danny are trapped in the hotel. She hides Danny in a locker and goes to Jack with a knife. She saw some horrific scenes in the living room, such as a group of ghosts in makeup, a man in a bear suit performing oral sex for a gentleman, a guest who was shot, and so on. She was frightened by these sights and went crazy.

Room 237: A Hidden Secret!!

Jack takes an axe and looks for Wendy and Danny in the hotel. He found the storage cabinet and smashed the door with an axe, only to find that it was empty. It turned out that Danny had escaped through a small window behind the cabinet. Jack continues to hunt Wendy and ends up confronting her outside the bathroom. He smashed open the bathroom door with an axe, revealing his face and uttering the movie's most famous line: "Heeeere's Johnny!" (This line is the opening line of the American talk show "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.") Wendy stabs Jack in the hand with a knife, forcing him to back off.

Halloran arrived at the hotel in a snowmobile, entered the lobby, and called the names of the Jack family. Jack heard him and gave up attacking Wendy and went to Haroran instead. Halloran is slashed by Jack with an axe and falls to the ground. Danny saw Halloran and ran over to pick him up. Wendy also arrived at the scene, and she fled to the snowmobile with Danny and Halloran to prepare to leave the hotel.

Room 237: A Hidden Secret!!

Jack chases out of the hotel and discovers a huge maze outside the hotel. He follows Danny's footsteps into the labyrinth in an attempt to find and kill him. Danny uses his ingenuity to muddle his tracks and successfully get rid of Jack. He finds Wendy and Halloran and escapes the hotel with them. Jack was lost in the maze and froze to death in the snow. In the final scene of the movie, the camera returns to the hotel's dance hall. On the wall hangs a black-and-white photograph taken on July 4, 1921, of a group of people dressed in ornate costumes celebrating American Independence Day. In the center of the photo is a smiling Jack Torrance, as if he had always belonged to this hotel and stayed here forever. The movie ends with this picture.
