On July 4, the remains of Mr. Sun's parents were found, and on the morning of July 6, the remains of his nephew were also found in a culvert near his home. "On the afternoon of July 6, rescuers told us that they were afraid of the risk of a second landslide, so they withdrew first." Mr. Yu said he wanted to find relatives and friends to dig together, but local cadres and emergency personnel stopped him. "Their rescuers have dug up my father-in-law's bed, hoping to continue searching, and our family has now accepted the news of my father-in-law's death, but still wants to find someone and dig up the body."
Luo Shicai, deputy director of the Wanzhou District Emergency Management Bureau, said that the local area has recently experienced many rounds of heavy rainfall, soil moisture saturation, and a new round of heavy rainfall is easy to induce flash floods, mudslides, landslides and other disasters again.
Rescuers also said that the landslide where Mr. Yu's father-in-law was buried had a large slope, and there was a risk of secondary collapse at the excavation site, and heavy machinery was difficult.
