The reporter learned from the Institute of Modern Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences that on July 7, the world's first large-scale non-resonant full energy storage fast-cycle pulse power supply developed by the Institute of Modern Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences passed the field test of the expert group.
The high-flow heavy ion accelerator device is a national "Twelfth Five-Year" scientific project built under the auspices of the Institute of Modern Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, in which the intensifier BRing is the most core component of the device, and the special pulse working mode of BRing dipole iron power supply will produce great energy throughput in the rising and falling sections of the current pulse waveform, which has a huge impact on the power grid and poses unprecedented challenges to the design of the power system.
In view of the strict requirements of high-flow heavy ion accelerator devices, the accelerator team of the Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, innovatively proposed a non-resonant pre-excited full energy storage solution, which solved 41 technical problems after 4 and a half years of concentrated research, and made breakthroughs in 4 core technical problems, which well solved the problems of high-power fast-cycle pulse power supply on the power grid with strong periodic impact on the power grid and high-precision output index requirements under a very wide voltage range. After the power supply entered the mass production stage, it continued to iteratively optimize the process scheme, realized the modular, integrated and standardized design of the power supply, and greatly improved the reliability, maintainability and electromagnetic compatibility of the power supply. On July 7, the first power supply product in the mass production phase of the power supply rolled off the production line and passed the field test by the expert group. This marks another solid step in the construction of high-flow heavy ion accelerators.
The successful development of high-power non-resonant, variable pre-excitation and full energy storage pulse power supply makes the green and low-carbon operation of large-scale accelerators possible, and has a wide application prospect in heavy ion cancer treatment devices and other applications, and also provides a new implementation scheme for the world's large-scale accelerator special pulse power supply.
