Mengxi Town, Li County: College students "three to the countryside" to write the story of rural revitalization with youth

author:The World of Law Week

In order to help rural revitalization, further create a strong atmosphere of caring for and attaching importance to the healthy growth of left-behind children, give more care and help to left-behind children, and further enrich their holiday life, on July 4, the Firefly Volunteer Service Team of the School of Literature, History and Law of Hunan University of Arts and Sciences came to Mengxi Temple Community in Mengxi Town, Li County to carry out the "Colorful Holiday" volunteer service social practice activity. During the activity, many "post-00s" college students temporarily bid farewell to the campus books, stepped on the countryside, felt the fragrance of the earth, sweated in the encouragement of "rolling up their sleeves and working hard", and wrote youth answers in the social classroom of rural revitalization, which became a unique scenery in summer.

This group of volunteers from universities tried to soothe the hearts of local children in their own way. "Many children in the area are introverted and reluctant to communicate with others, feeling that there is a closed wall inside them." Fan, the leading teacher, said that in order to let the children regain their self-confidence, they carried out activities such as "painting my beautiful hometown" and "I shape me, and mold children's hearts" in the village community. "Although I am very busy and tired every day, I really feel worth it to see the confident smiles of the children." The team members sighed one after another.

The parents of many children in rural areas work outside the home all year round, and only elderly people at home take care of their children. The holidays have arrived, and the learning and living conditions of left-behind children have become the most concerned issues for parents. It has become a problem to let the children in the community, especially the left-behind children, spend a happy and safe summer vacation. The arrival of the Firefly Volunteer Service Team provided summer homework counseling, safety education, psychological counseling and other voluntary tutoring services for children in the community, solving the worries of parents of left-behind children.

Leaving campus and going to the countryside not only allows college students to see a more three-dimensional society, but also allows them to understand themselves more fully. When they first arrived at Mengxi Temple community, there were many places they were not comfortable with, such as many mosquitoes in the countryside, sultry summer heat, and inconvenient transportation. The unknown problem of going to the countryside is also testing other practice teams. "No amount of difficulty can withstand a bite of watermelon sweetness." The team members laughed and said that it is inevitable that there will be difficulties in going to the countryside to practice, but the simple enthusiasm of the villagers, the mutual help and love between the team members, and the gains gained in practice all make this journey particularly unique. In addition, we would like to thank the People's Government of Mengxi Town for its support to our volunteer service team and solve the problem of food and accommodation for us.

Caring for left-behind children, creating a thought-leading, safe, healthy, caring, happy and colorful holiday for children, Firefly Volunteer Service Team has been in action. College students who are deeply engaged in practice, vigorous, hard-working, devote themselves to the vast rural world, and do real things, so that the society can see the infinite possibilities of youth power in rural revitalization.
