In the end, I was timid, I didn't start making a blockbuster film as an entrepreneurial work, but just opened a B-grade film, influenced by the big harvest of "Lame Hao" and "Leiluo", I opened a "pseudo-jianghu biopic", that is, it is all fiction, the film is called "The Queen of Nightlife - The Legend of Sister Xia", starring Ye Zifei, who was popular at the time. The cost is only five or six million, and the results are also average, and it is a tie. But experience was earned.
I started shooting one by one, but they were all called small films, and the blockbusters I directed by myself were almost all Yongsheng and other large companies. It wasn't until "Naked Lambs" that a big cost was spent investing. But the budget is only 10 million. At that time, I cooperated with Qiu Shuzhen on many films, and I felt that if she did not break through, she would fall silent, and I found that she took the jade girl or funny route, and it was impossible to win Liu Jialing and Wang Zuxian; In fact, she has great sexy potential.
At that time, Ye Yuqing shot the naked trilogy in shock, not only was it not abandoned, but it became popular (much more vigorous than today's Zhou Xiuna), which made me more firm in this idea. I suggested that she transform into sexy, but set three principles of not revealing (today my principle has become a common principle for everyone), take the high-end sexy route, the two sides negotiated for a long time, and finally went to the horse and found Huo Yaoliang, who is very good at shooting women, to direct.
Qiu Shuzhen became popular in Taiwan

Then on the day of filming, I published this poster on the cover of the "Oriental Daily", and the first appearance of the jade girl shocked the whole Hong Kong, and immediately aroused the curiosity of the audience and media in Hong Kong. The film became hot all at once. Three days before the release, I used the trick of "Supreme" again, from the bare-backed Qiu Shuzhen to turn around every day, the photo attracted attention, and on the premiere day, the first page of the six newspapers was full, which caused heated discussions in the city. But the director did not shoot the film well, only collected more than nine million, and overspent by four million.
Fortunately, Taiwan received a big harvest, and Qiu Shuzhen became a first-line actress in Taiwan. I eroded four million, but became popular with a sexy goddess. In the future, I also learned how to hold people. Since then, the young Wang Jing has officially stepped into this movie rivers and lakes, facing countless tigers, leopards and jackals alone, and has become this "cunning" Wang Fat man recognized by the domestic media until today.
I saw three more stars
After starting filming "The Legend of Sister Xia", I filmed "Dances with the Dragon", which won Ye Dexian the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. But because the bridge is excellent, the sales are good, and they have earned more than one million, these two films did not make much money, but the earnings made me see three stars: Liu Weiqiang, the director of "Rape", I already know and are optimistic about working as a mechanical worker at Shaw, this film was officially invested under my banner before this film, I held him for ten years, from "Rape" to "Confused Boy", to "Wind and Cloud", and then to "Infernal Affairs", and finally became an international director.
In addition, Ekin Cheng also performed well because of "School Bully", and I signed a five-movie contract with TVB, and I followed suit. The last one was Cheung Ka-fai, he was full of joy in "Rape", I was very impressed, six years later, he just played the big bad guy in "Pride of Heaven and Earth", but I immediately asked him to shoot "Gambler 1999" to act in a comedy, which established his status in the film industry.
I wanted to gag when I heard the camera snort
Due to the rapid increase in production and the production of many films for others, I decided to set up a well-equipped studio at the end of 1992. Finally, I found a thousand-foot flat at To Kwa Wan Sky Kitchen Centre and left my 700-foot dwelling. This new studio is simply called "Wang Jing Studio".
There was plenty of space inside, and my office had showers and toilets, which was a real ambition when I set up.
Scaling overspeed made a mistake
At the time, inexperience was made and this "expansion overspeed" mistake was made. At that time, it was a waste, and the more than twenty first-class stories I conceived with Xiang Huasheng had been completed only in a small room of 70 or 80 feet in him, setting up a huge studio, and naturally hiring a lot of employees to fill it, but these new employees failed to share my work in the short term, or to be self-financing, and I had to support huge office expenses every month, which made me a hundred pounds. Later, more feng shui experts pointed out that my office feng shui is extremely poor, only thirty or forty points, no wonder I filmed a lot of scenes, not only did not make any money, but also used my own salary to subsidize.
The studio has sprung up like a mushroom
So now I see a lot of directors in Beijing who have set up huge jobs, and they are funny. In fact, this is all vanity, with a huge studio and a trance to have its own film kingdom. In fact, the two have nothing to do with each other. In the past ten years, Hong Kong films have improved slightly in China, and directors with a bit of weight have set up studios in Hong Kong or Beijing, but in fact, Hong Kong films still have no money on average, how can they afford these studios that have sprung up like mushrooms?
In order to maintain this studio and fill the deficit caused by "Naked Lambs" and "The King of a Thousand Faces", I gritted my teeth in '93 and directed seven blockbusters and supervised the production of three. At the time, although the market was strong, it was still crazy.
But even if I don't have to fill the deficit, I can't help but accept these films, because they are all "big brother films", including the big brother in the shadow and the big brother on the rivers and lakes, instead of appearing to be brother and sister-in-law, it is better to go out and take it all.
Free up more time to think

This made me understand that even at their peak, people have the limit of their ability to work, and my favorite of the first seven films is "Hong Xiguan". Because there is more space in Beijing for me to think of new things, I dare not direct too many films to make more time for myself to think.
Of course, this experience also gave me a lot of experience. I understand that the audience will have aesthetic fatigue, and in early 93, Jet Li made three consecutive films "Lion King Fighting", "Fang Shiyu" and "Iron Rooster Fighting Centipede", and the box office fell from 30 million and 24 million to 18 million, so that the audience who liked Jet Li would be tired of arranging films.
Until the end of the year, "The Legend of Relying on the Sky and Slaying the Dragon" failed miserably to the company's UFO's "New Brothers and Brothers", which made me know that there were too many martial arts films, which had bored Hong Kong movies, and the audience was demanding something new.
