The reporter learned on July 2 from the Administration Bureau of Yellow River Hukou Scenic Area in Yichuan County, Shaanxi Province, that the "safety wall" of more than 500 meters along the western side of Hukou Waterfall has been demolished.
In May this year, the incident of "blocking the scenery by the wall" along the road along the Hukou Waterfall Scenic Area of the Yellow River attracted widespread attention. The scenic area previously responded that the wall was mainly because of the large cliff height difference in this section, easy rockfall, and several traffic accidents caused by vehicle staying to obstruct traffic. Although the wall was built for safety reasons, it caused controversy among netizens because the area it covered happened to overlook the core landscape of Hukou Waterfall.
The relevant person in charge of the Yellow River Hukou Scenic Area Management Bureau in Yichuan County, Shaanxi Province, said that in the face of public concern, the local management department invited experts in transportation, geology, landscape, cultural tourism and other fields to conduct many discussions and finally determined the rectification plan. It is understood that after the "safety wall" is removed, it will ensure road traffic safety, smooth and orderly road traffic by strengthening traffic management in this section, adding warm reminder speakers, increasing traffic police patrols and other measures, and preventing traffic congestion and accidents due to the stay of people and vehicles. At the same time, the relevant departments will carry out slope treatment on this road section, take measures such as cleaning dangerous rocks and hanging nets, and strive to minimize potential safety hazards.
The person in charge also said that in the future, Hukou Scenic Area will pay more attention to the experience of tourists, continuously improve the quality of tourism under the premise of ensuring safety, and welcome the general public to put forward more valuable opinions for the improvement of the quality of the scenic spot. The local traffic management department reminds passing vehicles that due to the narrow road in the Hukou scenic area and close to the cliff, tourists should avoid stopping here, causing traffic congestion and accidental injuries.
