Today marks the 26th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland. From 0:00, the "Hong Kong Car to the North" policy has been implemented, and eligible Hong Kong motor vehicle owners can drive into Guangdong through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Zhuhai Highway Port after making an appointment for customs clearance in Hong Kong.
At 00:09 on July 1, a Hong Kong motor vehicle with license plate number LL7999 passed the inspection and drove into Zhuhai, becoming the first Hong Kong single-plate car to enter Guangdong.

Accompanied by a "system release, please pass" guide, after the first vehicle is inspected, the vehicle automatically reads vehicle and driver documents, fingerprints, face information, etc. with the help of the "one-stop" vehicle customs clearance system. After more than ten seconds of waiting, it passed smoothly.
"I'm happy to be the 'first person'!" Li Boxin, the owner of the first car, said excitedly: "It used to be relatively troublesome to come from Hong Kong, but now I can drive myself, which is much more convenient!" Customs clearance facilities are also good! At present, more than 16,400 people in Hong Kong have registered for the application, and three rounds of the "Hong Kong Car Northbound" lottery have been completed, and about 7,700 people can submit their applications.
Vehicles from the direction of Hong Kong are coming one after another. At the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge toll booth, some Hong Kong motor vehicles placed national flags, and many passengers excitedly waved and took photos.

The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge toll booth supports the mainland national standard ETC, Hong Kong Autotoll ETC charging methods, cash (RMB), WeChat, Alipay and other diversified payment methods. On that day, many Hong Kong car owners chose to use the Hong Kong Autotoll ETC, which can pay for the pass without parking, which is very efficient.
In the past, Hong Kong residents mainly relied on public transport to enter and leave the mainland, and some residents could drive Guangdong and Hong Kong license plates to and from Guangdong, but the latter had a high application threshold and had to meet the investment tax conditions. From today, Hong Kong residents can drive their own private cars into Guangdong, which greatly facilitates family visits and business activities.
Hong Kong resident Zeng Ruoquan used to do business in Zhuhai and often had to travel back and forth between the two places, and this time he came to Zhuhai with the first car, and he was full of emotion: "Crossing the Lianxin Bridge, Hong Kong and the mainland have driven on the fast track of development together!" ”
The implementation of the "Hong Kong Vehicle Northbound Direction" has accelerated the convenient flow of people between Hong Kong and the Mainland, which is an important measure to support Hong Kong's integration into the overall development of the country, and injects new vitality into the practice of "one country, two systems".
Hong Kong, Macao and mainland cars are driving together on the same road, which is becoming the new normal in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
