TRANSSION, a familiar and unfamiliar name, is familiar because it is a domestic mobile phone manufacturer, a domestic brand, and strange because it has never been listed in China. Friends who know a little about TRANSSION should know that Transsion mobile phones are sold very hot in Africa and can be called the "king of Africa". However, now TRANSSION has begun to lay out the global mobile phone market, which is no longer limited to Africa.
Although I have written many news articles about Transsion mobile phones, this is the first time I have obtained a real phone, and I have obtained two at once. This time I got the Tecno Camon 20 series mobile phone released by Transsion not long ago, one is a 5G mobile phone Camon 20 Premier 5G, and the other is a 4G mobile phone Camon 20 Pro.
In terms of product positioning, Camon 20 Premier 5G is higher than Camon 20 Pro, but these two mobile phones still have no plans to be listed in China, so this article is purely from the perspective of my experience, take you to taste the "King of Africa" mobile phone, to satisfy everyone and my curiosity.
How does the appearance differ?
Compared with domestic mobile phones, these two mobile phones are more unique in appearance, giving me a sense of freshness, especially the Camon 20 Premier, the rear camera module on the back has added a five-sided irregular shaped ceramic cover, which is very recognizable. Although the Camon 20 Pro removes the cover of the camera module, the irregular shape of the five sides is retained, maintaining the unity of the series in the design style of the mobile phone.
The back is made of plain leather material, and reflects a geometric beauty, divided into geometric shapes of different shapes, which is quite delicate to the touch, and is not easy to stain fingerprints. However, the middle frame of the mobile phone adopts a right-angle side design, so the grip feeling is more general. The middle frame is made of plastic, the texture has been reduced, and the glossy design looks more obvious with fingerprints.
Back to the front of the fuselage, there is basically no difference from the domestic mobile phone, both mobile phones use a centered single digging screen, but the factory comes with a water drop screen protective film, which looks a little awkward. In terms of screen quality, both mobile phones use a 6.67-inch 120Hz high-brush AMOLED screen, with a resolution of 1080*2400, and there is no obvious difference between the two in terms of screen perception, but Camon 20 Pro does not remove the screen plastic bracket, and the screen border appears slightly larger. In addition, both phones are equipped with short-throw screen fingerprint unlocking.
How is taking pictures different?
Compared with the freshness brought by the appearance, the Camon 20 series has also made some regional optimizations in taking photos. The back of the phone is equipped with a ring-shaped fill light, and built-in multiple flash beads, Camon 20 Premier is equipped with up to 8 flash beads, Camon 20 Pro is equipped with 4 flash beads, the fill light intensity is a level stronger than most domestic mobile phones.
In dark scenes such as night, the Camon 20 series rear fill light can bring a brighter fill light effect, and you can shoot more clearly when shooting people with darker skin, distinguishing black people from black backgrounds. The image below shows the shooting effect in an all-black scene, and you can see that the Camon 20 Premier has a brighter picture.

And this "flash fill light enhancement" is not only reflected in the rear, but also applied to the front selfie. The two mobile phones add "micro-slit double flash" on the right side of the upper border of the screen, hidden under the screen border, if you don't look closely, you won't find a flash at all, selfies in a dark environment, relying on the fill light of the front flash off light, selfies of African friends will be relatively friendly.
Praised, Camon 20 series portrait beauty algorithm is relatively good, has won the selfie recognition of the little sister, and even issued a comment that can wrench the wrist with vivo and OPPO. However, Camon 20 Pro has a small bug problem in the "Portrait Master" mode, and beauty and blurring cannot be turned on at the same time, which requires subsequent system optimization.

Returning to daily shooting, the Camon 20 Premier is equipped with three cameras on the rear, and interestingly, the 100 million pixels are arranged as an ultra-wide-angle lens, not the wide-angle main camera. The wide-angle main camera uses a 50-megapixel RGBW sensor, plus a 2-megapixel depth of field lens.
Although the Camon 20 Premier's ultra-wide angle uses a 100-megapixel lens, the actual image results are average, and detail is lacking in daylight shots, with a high level of blurred noise. In comparison, the imaging effect of the main camera is better, which can catch up with the level of domestic mid-range mobile phones, but when it is completely dark, the shooting effect is more general, and there is a certain room for improvement in the color reproduction of the light and noise.

The Camon 20 Pro rear includes a 64-megapixel main camera with an RGBW graphics sensor, a 2-megapixel depth of field, and an AI camera. Camon 20 Pro is weaker than Camon 20 Premier in terms of photo results, and the gap between the two during the day is not obvious, it may be more of a color difference, and there is not much pressure to cope with daily shooting during the day. At night, however, noise is noticeable in night shots.

Overall, Camon 20 Premier is better than Camon 20 Pro in taking photos, but there is still a certain gap compared with domestic mobile phones. The addition of targeted strong flash and portrait beauty algorithms can indeed improve the experience of shooting portraits for users in Africa.
How are the systems different?
After talking about taking photos, let's talk about the Camon 20 series system, pre-installed is based on Android 13 customized HiOS operating system, because they are based on Android 13 custom development, so in the overall operation mode is basically consistent with the domestic system, such as side application bar, small window mode, switch large file mode and other functions are equipped. The great thing is that this mobile operating system has no ads, and domestic manufacturers need to learn to learn!
In addition, Camon 20 series has also added some interesting small functions on the system, such as [anti-peeping] function, after opening the function, it will add a mask to the mobile phone screen, the transparency of the mask, and the mask range can be manually adjusted to prevent others from peeping on the side, such as crowded subways, others can easily see your mobile phone content from the side, open this function can be a good way to avoid this kind of thing.
In addition, there is also an [anti-theft alarm] function, this function can prevent the mobile phone from being stolen, including two alarm methods, one is to disconnect when charging will sound an alarm, the other is that the earphone will be unplugged to sound an alarm, and the mobile phone will be stolen on the way will also be known in time.
Personally, I also prefer the function of [gesture answering], when a call comes, the two-finger gesture of "Yeah" to the screen can be answered directly, and if you don't want to answer the phone directly, you can directly hang up the phone with your palm, such as when cooking or getting something on your hands, this gesture answering function is very convenient.
How is the performance?
In terms of performance, Camon 20 Premier uses Dimensity 8050 processor, using 6nm process technology, CPU consists of 4 Cortex-A78 large cores and 4 Cortex-A55 small cores, CPU frequency can reach 3.0GHz, GPU uses Mali-G77 GPU, equivalent to the previously released Dimensity 1300, Dimensity 1200, performance is decent.
Camon 20 Pro uses MediaTek G99 processor, also using 6nm process technology, CPU includes 2 2.2GHz Cortex-A76 cores and 6 2GHz Cortex-A55 Xiaohe, the CPU uses Mali-G57 MC2, the performance is weaker than the Dimensity 8050 processor.
In the AnTuTu V10 performance evaluation, Camon 20 Premier scored 770,000 points, while Camon 20 Pro scored about 420,000 points.
Specific to the domestic game experience, both mobile phones can only open high frame rate and ultra-high resolution mode in the "Honor of Kings" game, that is, only 60 frame rate mode can be turned on, although there is a 120Hz refresh rate screen, but there is no way to experience the 120 frame game experience. In the indoor 27°C environment, Camon 20 Premier played for 30 consecutive minutes, the game frame rate was basically maintained at 60FPS, the temperature of the mobile phone was not high, the maximum temperature on the back was about 38°C, and the maximum temperature of the screen was about 36.7°C.
Camon 20 Pro performance is worse, "Honor of Kings" average game frame rate of 59FPS, frame rate up and down more times, in team battles there will be relatively large frame rate fluctuations, but the body temperature heating is not large.
As for the more demanding "Genshin" game, Camon 20 Premier performance is also more difficult, indoors at about 27 ° C, turn on extremely high image, 60 frame rate mode, in Meru Castle running map for 40 minutes, the average frame rate of the game is only 35FPS, and the lag is more obvious. However, the temperature of the fuselage is acceptable, the maximum temperature on the back is 37.8 °C, and the maximum temperature of the front screen is 38.9 °C, you will feel the warmth.
In terms of battery life, Camon 20 Premier has a built-in 5000mAh battery, paired with 40W wired fast charging, and it takes about 1 hour to fully charge from 0. Camon 20 Pro is also built with 5000mAh, equipped with 33W wired fast charging, measured from 0 to fully charge in about 1.5 hours.
Summary: Freshness, obvious advantages and disadvantages
The advantages and disadvantages of Transsion Tecno Camon 20 series are actually more obvious, maintaining uniqueness in appearance, bringing a unique recognition and freshness, and in taking photos, special optimization for African users, multi-flash and portrait beauty algorithm blessing, portrait shooting effect is better, Camon 20 Premier will be better than Camon 20 Pro in taking photos, but there is a certain gap with domestic mainstream mobile phone photography. The system's ad-free is absolutely positive, but slightly weaker in terms of performance.
