Du Mu once had a poem: "Han Hu outside the door, Zhang Lihua at the head of the building." This means that Han Huhu has already approached the city, but Lord Chen Hou has ignored it and is still drinking and having fun with his favorite concubine Zhang Lihua. The poem involves two historical figures, one of whom, Zhang Lihua, was the favorite concubine of Chen Shubao, the last emperor of Southern Chen, and was a famous beauty in Chinese history, which has long been known to everyone. So who is Han Huhu? Why did he appear under the gates of Lord Chen Hou?
Han Baohu was the son of the famous Northern Zhou general Han Xiong, who was tall and courageous, and had the style of a "small general" in his youth. At the age of thirteen, he was even more fierce, which made him famous at once. And what is even more valuable is that this young general is not only obsessed with martial arts, he also seems to have a great interest in reading, often unable to release the scrolls, and reading all kinds of books at a young age. When Emperor Wentai of the Northern Zhou Dynasty heard about this, he was very happy and felt that Han Huhu would surely grow up to be a great general who was proficient in strategy. History proves that Han Huhu has indeed lived up to Yuwen Tai's expectations.
After Yuwen Tai's death, his son Yuwen Jue established Northern Zhou, and then the political situation in Northern Zhou was turbulent, and it was not until Yuwen Yong became emperor that the country stabilized. Yuwen Yongxiong is ambitious and ambitious, and has always regarded the unification of the world as his goal. To unify the world, we must first unify the north, and to unify the north, we must eliminate Northern Zhou's old rival Northern Qi. In 575, Yuwen Yong finally made up his mind and led an army to attack Northern Qi. And Han Huhu was in this team of Fa Qi. Soon, the Zhou army arrived at Jin Yongcheng, when the town guarding Jin Yongcheng was the Northern Qi general Du Lonely Yongye, Han Huhu stood up, knew the stakes for Du Lonely Yongye, and with his three inches of uncorrupted tongue, he did not even spend a single soldier, so that Du Lonely Yongye surrendered to Northern Zhou. This made everyone look at him higher, and the hero who caught the tiger in his youth was indeed worthy of the name.
However, the more praiseworthy good drama was still to come, and soon after, Han Huhu led the troops north, and the momentum was like a bamboo, and he pacified Fan Yang in one fell swoop, at this time he had already paid tribute to the history of Yongzhou. Later, the Southern Chen army advanced into Gwangju, and Han Defeated them in his position as commander-in-chief of the march. After that, the Southern Chen generals Zhen Qing, Ren Mannu, Xiao Maha and others repeatedly invaded the north, all of which were defeated by Han Huhu. In the eyes of the southern army, Han Huhu seemed to be a god of war that could never be defeated, which made the morale of the south low and gradually lose the confidence to compete with the north. However, if you compare the above credits with the following credits, it is like fireworks and Haoyue competing for glory. The battle mentioned below will be the culmination of Han's lifelong military career.
After the death of Emperor Wen of Zhou, the power of the imperial government actually fell into the hands of Yang Jian, the chancellor. In 581, Yang Jian accepted the Zen concession of the Northern Zhou Jing Emperor, changed the yuan to kai emperor, and officially established the Sui Dynasty. Yang Jian inherited the cause of Yuwen Yong, the Emperor of Northern Zhou, and was always ready to go south to attack Chen. After careful investigation, Yang Jian felt that Han Baohu could rely on him, so he appointed him as the governor of Luzhou and entrusted Pingchen Daye to him. In 588, Yang Jian, spearheaded by Han Huhu, ordered a large army to go south to prepare for the complete elimination of Southern Chen.
Han Huhu knew that the opportunity could not be lost, and he did not hesitate to lead five hundred soldiers to cross the river overnight and attack the quarry. On the other hand, the defenders on the quarry side, they were unaware of the arrival of the enemy, and they all slept in their sleep, which was equivalent to handing over the quarry to Han Hu. Han Huhu effortlessly took down the quarry quickly. The Sui army that had just won the victory did not stop, they were like tanks filled with oil, running wild under the driving of Han Huhu. So there was half a day to attack Gu Su, followed by the feat of taking Xinlin. As early as a few years ago, Chen Guoren had the experience of fighting with Han Huhu, who was invincible and regarded as a god of war by them. Now this god of war had cultivated even more fiercely in the years of battlefield fighting, which made Chen Guoren dare to regard him as an opponent. Some of Chen Guo's generals saw that the situation was not good and surrendered one after another.
After the southern Chen general Ren Barbarian surrendered, he shouted under the city to the Southern Chen soldiers who were still holding on to the city: "I have surrendered, what are you still insisting on?" Those Chen Guo soldiers who were determined to defend their homeland, if the Sui Army brought them fear, then What Han Huhu brought to them was despair after fear.
Yang Jian, who received the report from the front, was very happy, and he immediately issued an edict, causing the army to attack the southern Chen capital Jiankang. Chen Shubao, the lord of Southern Chen, had no intention of resisting in the face of the wolf-like Sui army outside the city, and he was so frightened that he was so frightened that he was hiding in Tibet. When Han Huhu broke through the city, he ordered his men to search everywhere, but they did not find Chen Shubao's figure. Later, there were still soldiers who threw stones into a dry well, and there were constant cries for help from the well, and only then did someone find out that Chen Shubao and his favorite concubine Zhang Lihua were hiding in this dry well! Capturing Emperor Nanchen alive was a great achievement, and it also made Han Huhu's status in the court even higher, and its weight in the heart of Emperor Yang Jian of Sui became heavier.
On one occasion, Yang Jian even borrowed the prestige of Han Hu to intimidate the Turks in the north. At that time, the Turkic envoys entered the Hajj, and in order to kill the turks, Yang Jian said to them: "Have you heard of Chen Shubao, the son of the Chen Kingdom in Jiangnan?" The envoys replied, "I've heard of it." Then Yang Jian had all the Turkic envoys led to Han Huhu and said, "This is the person who captured Chen Guo tianzi alive!" The envoys looked at Han Huhu, only to see his angry eyes, although he did not speak, but full of momentum, standing next to him felt an invisible pressure coming from the surroundings, which made the envoys tremble and look away, not daring to look at him again.
Han Huhu was so meritorious that Yang Jian made him the Duke of Shouguang County, with a thousand households.
In 592, Han died at the age of fifty-five. Although this legendary general is not a long life, he has created countless achievements in his limited life that are difficult for others to achieve. And interestingly, this famous player not only lived brilliantly, but also left a legend after his death.
According to the Book of Sui, it is said that a few days before Han Huhu left due to illness, the outside of his mansion was extremely lively. The old woman of the neighbor's house saw that the honor guard in front of Han Huhu's house was grand and magnificent, so she asked the people in the honor guard what they were doing, and the honor guard replied, "I have come to welcome the king." Then the honor guard suddenly disappeared. Soon after, another person who was sick and in a trance walked toward Han Huhu's house and said, "I want to meet the Great King." The guards on the left and right were confused and asked him what king he wanted to see, and the man said, "I have come to see the king of Yama." The guards listened, thinking he was looking for stubble, and wanted to beat him up. As a result, Han Baohu listened, immediately stopped them, and said, "I achieved the Shangzhu Kingdom before I was born, and if I can become the King of Yan Luo after death, I will naturally be very satisfied." A few days later, Han Baohu died of illness.
In the late Tang Dynasty Dunhuang variation "Han Hu Hu Dialect Book", it is recorded that after Han Hu Ping Chen, the General of the Five Daos asked him to be the king of Yan Luo with a heavenly charm, and Han Hu hu agreed and asked for three days of leave. Within three days, Emperor Wen of Sui held a farewell banquet for him, and on the third day, two people, one dressed in purple and one dressed in silk, came to greet Han Huhu on a dark cloud and invited him to be the king of Yanluo. So Han Huhu bid farewell to the imperial court and his wife and children, and went to the prefectural government.
Leaving aside the Han Hu Dialect, the Book of Sui is the official revision of the canonical history. The zhengshi also adopts the theory that Han Baohu was the king of Yanluo, which can only prove that in the early Tang Dynasty, this legend spread very widely and had a very deep influence. As for why there is such a legend, we can dare to guess, perhaps because Han Baohu died prematurely, and people are unwilling to accept this fact, so there is a saying that he went to the difu to become the king of Yanluo. As for why it was the King of Yanluo, it may be because the impression left by Han Huhu on people, especially on the enemy, is very frightening, perhaps in the eyes of the Nanchen people who were defeated by him, in the hearts of the Turks who were frightened and stupid by him, Han Huhu is the King of Yanluo, the living King of Yanluo, once he provokes him, he will die in an instant. Of course, this is just our speculation, the truth of history naturally can not be known, the only thing we can be sure of is that Han Baohu's life is the same as his name, incomparably loud and imposing!
In addition, by the way, the Tang Dynasty military god who later became famous all over the world, Li Jing, the Duke of Weiguo, was the nephew of Han Huhu.
