"Art and Taste 2023 Distant Intangible Cultural Heritage Theme Creative Exhibition" is one of the series of activities of the 2023 "Intangible Cultural Heritage Lights Up Hometown Henan" Youth Village Construction Action, and it is also a key measure for Xinyang City to build an intangible cultural heritage village in Liulin Old Street, Xinyang City.

Why is Liulin Old Street one of the venues, Professor Yu Liqun, Executive Secretary General of the National College Students Rural Revitalization Creative Competition and Deputy Dean of the China Rural Revitalization Research Institute of Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics, gave the answer: Liulin Old Street was founded in the early Qing Dynasty and has a history of more than 300 years, and is an ancient market town with rich historical remains, beautiful natural scenery and rich tourism resources. The total length of the old street is more than 1,000 meters, of which there are still 61 green brick and gray tile antique buildings with typical characteristics of southern Henan houses. In August 2013, Laojie Diguo tofu was selected into the second batch of municipal intangible cultural heritage list, and handmade hanging noodles were included in the list of intangible cultural heritage of Yunhe District. With profound cultural heritage and rich characteristic industrial resources, art empowers intangible cultural heritage to have more directions and more possibilities to try here. Based on his previous experience in rural revitalization, Professor You emphasized that young people should be given more freedom to play their own roles and inject rejuvenation into intangible cultural heritage.

Ms. Pan Yanlin, the creator of the "Intangible Cultural Heritage Lit Liulin Old Street", shared with the participating artists the moving intangible cultural heritage story of the district and the overall image design plan for the future. Ms. Pan Yanlin, who was praised as "squatting down to do design", marveled at the unique handmade skills and taste enjoyment of tofu in Liulin Di Pot, and the stories behind the intangible cultural heritage also inspired her to use design to make Liulin Old Street shine with new charm and vitality, she hopes to integrate the inheritance of tofu intangible cultural heritage and the continuation of the red spirit into this creative theme exhibition, and also invite more artists and designers to participate in it, adding a handful of firewood and fire to the intangible cultural heritage.

With the theme of "Art and Taste", this intangible cultural heritage themed creative exhibition aims to integrate visual art, garden circulation, taste experience and human environment, deeply explore the artistic language belonging to Liulin Old Street in Xunhe District, and tell the unique charm of intangible cultural heritage culture and rural nature of Old Street. The theme name of "Art and Taste" not only covers the multi-layered dimensions of this intangible cultural heritage theme creative exhibition, but also brings people's enthusiasm for intangible cultural heritage to the countryside, integrates the fresh creativity of contemporary art and design, and gives the vitality of iterative renewal of the old street, so that every friend who walks into Liulin Old Street can experience an artistic experience that is "unfinished".

The exhibition specially invited Mr. Assadul Maklov, associate professor of the Department of Fiber Art, School of Sculpture and Public Art, China Academy of Art, and associate professor of the National Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria, as the art director. He said that the innovation and diversity of contemporary art and the ingenuity of traditional intangible cultural heritage skills will surely collide with a more brilliant cultural light, and at the same time, he is also full of confidence in the new vitality of Laojie with artistic expression.

Intangible cultural heritage needs to be inherited, fresh and vivid faces to join, and cross-border thinking to integrate, this event aims to invite outstanding young artists and designers to join the creation, young artists like Yang Xuxiao, who have a strong interest in Xinyang intangible cultural heritage, he believes that urban renewal and artistic transformation under public art should be flexible and full of vitality. Xinyang's historical heritage, cultural landscape and red bloodline are all valuable assets created by the artist, and he is very much looking forward to giving full play to his advantages and creating more masterpieces in the living inheritance and value transformation of Xinyang's intangible cultural heritage.
Ms. Wu Mengjun, General Manager of Zhejiang Future Hegu Cultural Tourism Co., Ltd., believes that intangible cultural heritage is the soft power of urban and rural culture. On the basis of the profound cultural connotation and cultural heritage of Liulin Old Street, coupled with the empowerment of art forms and cultural tourism formats, it can not only promote the sustainable development of local intangible cultural heritage, but also effectively help rural revitalization. Wu Mengjun said that rural work not only requires love and persistence, but also needs the injection of fresh blood. At present, Hegu Cultural Tourism has launched the "three-year accompaniment plan" in the future, and she looks forward to more young people joining to help rural revitalization. Based on the theme creative exhibition, the China Academy of Art also signed a horizontal project agreement with Zhejiang Future Hegu Cultural Tourism Co., Ltd., and the two sides will carry out more creative exploration in the "art + cultural tourism" model in the distant area of the Huhe River in the future.
