At the end of March this year, OpenAI partially lifted the restriction that ChatGPT cannot be connected to the Internet, and launched the first batch of ChatGPT plugins (ChatGPT plug-in set), which means that third-party applications can be included in ChatGPT to provide services to users. The combination of large models and diversified plug-in functions also indicates the development direction of the next generation of operating systems.
Zhang Chongyang, founder and CEO of Zhixing AI, told 36Kr that third-party plug-ins will build an "App Store" ecology for large models, plug-ins are interoperable, large models allow users to use these plug-ins naturally, which will be a subversive innovation for traditional apps, mini programs, etc., "(plug-ins) are equivalent to making AI grow eyes and hands, and in the future, users only need a large model entrance to complete tasks such as booking tickets, ordering food, ordering takeaway, etc." ”
Zhang Chongyang said that the large model + plug-in model is most likely the answer to the large-scale commercialization of AI. However, ChatGPT plugins mainly serve European and American countries, and it is difficult for Chinese merchants to incorporate plugins into ChatGPT. OpenAI's official approval of third-party plugins is slow, with an average of only four or five plugins launched a day, and many Chinese developers' plugins are still queued for review. Zhang Chongyang said that the domestic market needs a product to fill the gap.
On June 9, 2023, "Zhixing AI" was officially launched, and Zhang Chongyang said that this is the first AI cognitive model product in China that supports plug-ins.

In terms of technology, after more than a year of research and development, the Zhixing team imitated the design of the functional area of the human brain, and divided the large model into three interconnected functional areas of reasoning, memory and multimodality, of which memory was divided into three interconnected modules of long-term, medium-term and short-term. This set of technical architecture makes the Zhixing model more stable when calling APIs, and the call speed is relatively fast. ChatGPT can only use 3 plugins at a time, but there is no limit to the number of plugins when using Zhixing AI.

In terms of ecology, Zhixing AI adopts an open strategy and is fully compatible with OpenAI's development interface. Zhang Chongyang told 36Kr that he hopes to provide new options for developers who are still waiting for the OpenAI plug-in to be approved. The next step of the Zhixing team will also consider open-sourcing some technologies and working with developers and industry partners to create a large-model plug-in ecosystem.
Ecological construction is the focus of Zhixing's next work. According to Zhang Chongyang, the Zhixing team has contacted some domestic B-end customers, one is a service-oriented platform, such as takeaway, hotel, etc., and the other is a data-based platform, such as checking the weather, checking the financial report stock price, etc. "I hope that Zhixing AI will become a helper for most people's life and work." Zhang Chongyang said.
Founder Zhang Chongyang has worked for iFLYTEK, Microsoft, WeChat and Kuaishou, responsible for machine learning and artificial intelligence related research and development, when he first worked, he used pretraining and embedding technology to design and develop early voice dialogue robots in China, and then served as the head of mini program commercialization technology on WeChat, and has many years of experience in NLP, AI applications and platform-level ecological construction. The Zhixing AI team has more than ten people, including experts from first-line technology companies such as Tencent, Alibaba, Microsoft, and Google.
