Hi, hello everyone, we meet again; Today I want to talk to you about some of Swatch watch's more fun watches.

Swatch, the "great artist" in the watch circle

If you have a friend who knows Swatch well, you should know. Swatch has long collaborated with many well-known artists, up-and-coming artists, architects, famous museums and institutions, and has shown their work on watches, so Swatch dials have been affectionately referred to by many cousins as "the world's smallest canvas".

Swatch's artistic collaboration began in 1985 with the first Swatch Art Special watch in collaboration with renowned artist Chiki Picasso. A limited edition of 140 pieces was released and was a huge success, paving the way for more artistic creation in the "World's Smallest Canvas" in the future.

In 1985, Swatch started a street graffiti craze and at the "Street Painting Show" organized by Swatch, European city artists broke free from the shackles of galleries and painted the streets of Basel, expressing their thoughts on time.

In 1986, Keith Hanen's playful iconic cartoon image, with unexpected color contrasts, resulted in the one-of-a-kind Swatch Art Special watch. The collection exudes the fashion vibrancy of New York in the 80s of the 20th century, and at the same time, it is also quickly admired by art lovers.

In 2011, the Swatch Art Peace Hotel was located in the heart of Shanghai, attracting artists from all over the world. Artists from different artistic fields stay here for 3-6 months with a common goal: to create and collaborate.

Up to now, for more than 30 years, Swatch has released a lot of artistic cooperation watches, and it can be said that the love for art has long been integrated into Swatch blood.

This year, Swatch Art Journey embarked on a new journey again, launching a total of 5 capsule collections and 10 watches from mid-March to May, which is the 10 in front of us. We can see that each watch is equipped with an individual watch box, which is especially important for this series of watches, because we have to rely on it to understand the corresponding artwork!

Taking this one that I personally like as an example, we can see that the painting "Kanagawa Oki Nanori" is printed on the front of the watch box; Let's look at the back again, on the left there is also "Kanagawa Oki Nanori", and on the right is another artwork "Astrolabe". Most importantly, on this side there is also information about the artist and his work, so let's take a look at it together.

In Katsushika Hokusai's Kanagawa Oki Nanari painting, Japan's most revered mountain, Mt. Fuji appears so fragile in a white or blue tsunami like a giant minions, as if it were a small hill. One of the thirty-six views of Mount Fuji in Katsushika Hokusai, the painting has been a symbol of Japan since it was first printed, and the rich blue hue comes from an imported pigment that first appeared in this painting.

Let's look at the story of another work of art, the Astrolabe (Muhammad ibn Ahmad Batuti). This astrolabe is a flat projection of the night sky that was used in the 18th century to help calculate the position of the stars and determine the exact time, this beautifully carved astrolabe combines scientific knowledge from East and West and stands out for its unique size as a unique artefact.

After reading the story, let's take a look at the watch again, maybe we will have a different feeling. This joint watch adopts a Prussian blue hue design as a whole, like the ocean and the night sky, and the stars on the dial are embellished with some white dots, which at first glance cannot help but remind people of the turbulent waves of "Kanagawa Oki Nanori", and some like stars dotted in the sky. The plastic case with a diameter of 41 mm makes it very comfortable to wear on the wrist.

Turn the watch over, if the front is the stage of "Kanagawa Oki Nanori", then the back is the battlefield of "Astrolabe". Part of the pattern of the "Astrolabe" extends from the back to the two straps, and the desert yellow hue looks ancient, mysterious, in contrast to the blue sea in front, a desert, an ocean, mutually exclusive but merging with each other, contradictory but reasonable.

This watch combines the sea with the stars, and the essence of the two masters of the two eras is condensed in a small watch, forming a nautical theme that confirms people's determination to explore the sea. Of course, there will be a thousand Hamlets in the eyes of a thousand readers. So, what do you think of this watch? Welcome to leave a message to tell us.

Which watch just now is a large diameter of 41 millimeters, now, let's choose a small diameter to see. Just let me see which artwork it is inspired by.

The Birth of Venus is the work of the artist (Sandro Botticelli). He imagined that Venus, the goddess of love, was like a pearl in a shell, blown to the shores of (Cyprus) by the god of wind, she was welcomed by spring and gave her beautiful cloth to cover her perfect body, the painting was a celebration of classic beauty, movement and light...

The case of this watch is only 34 mm, which is very small on my wrist, so this watch is more suitable for boys and girls with small wrist diameters. The light blue transparent case of the watch is like pure seawater, which is very refreshing to wear in summer. Perhaps because there are too many characters in the original painting to be displayed together on the plate, Swatch cleverly divided it into two parts: the dial is printed with the west wind god "Zeferos" and the breeze goddess "Oera", and the strap is printed with part of the figure of the god of love "Venus", which restores the painting as much as possible, but as if the wind blows Venus to the sea, it once again sends Eros to us.

Having said all this, I believe that there are many cousin videos that have a question at the beginning, how can one package be different from other packaging? This is actually Swatch Swatch's latest fifth capsule series not long ago, that is, the joint watch of Swatch and Jean-Michel Basquiat.

The one I have in my hand is a special edition of the gift box packaging that Swatch has prepared for collectors, of course, we can also buy it separately, and if you buy it separately, the watch box will be the same as other collaborations.

In addition to the special watch box, the three watches equipped inside this box are also very characteristic in terms of details. It features a unique double band design, with the top bracelet decorated with a trident motif and the bottom bracelet adorned with the artist's name.

Unlike the main capsule collections, their second hand colours: this Untitled watch has a gold second hand, the Ixtar-themed watch has a yellow second hand and the Hollywood African-themed watch is bright pink. At present, this gift box packaging is only available in China in a limited edition of 100 sets.

Swatch Switzerland's passion for art began in 1985 with the launch of the first artistic collaboration Art Special watches. In order to introduce high art to the public, Swatch Switzerland cooperates with world-renowned museums to present the most influential works of art on the wrist, so that ordinary people can understand art, contact art, and perhaps arouse interest in art, which may be the end of Swatch art journey.

After reading these fun watches, I don't know if there are any you like? If so, welcome to let us know in the message area. Well, that's it for this episode, we'll see you in the next issue, bye-bye.
