The orchid mantis, officially known as the crown mantis, has become a face in the insect world with its unique form and color, especially in the mantis family with more than 2,500 species of members, defending the queen crown with absolute appearance advantage.
The body structure of the orchid mantis is born to disguise itself as a flower. Its compound eyes are conical like a "crown", which can also be disguised as a "flower stamen". The thorax is short and broad, and with the exception of the sickle-shaped foot, the femoral segments of the other four legs are oval petal-shaped. In a static state, it can mimic the flower well, waiting for the prey to come to the door.
In addition to trying to imitate flowers in physical shape, the body color of orchid mantis is also consistent with flowers. Its nymph stage is mainly white in color, and the ends of the chest and limbs and femoral segments are emerald green, which can mimic the bud well. Adults are predominantly pink in color with a whitish tinge.
