On June 4, 2023, during the 31st China International Information and Communications Exhibition, the New Telecom Industry Development Forum, hosted by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and the China Communications Enterprise Association and hosted by Huawei, was successfully held at the China National Convention Center in Beijing. The forum invited industry leaders and experts from global operators, standards organizations, equipment vendors, terminal manufacturers and other industry partners to discuss hot topics such as the development trend, business and ecology of the new calling industry in depth, and jointly promote the prosperity and development of the new calling industry.
The forum was chaired by Zhang Dakun, Director of the Business and Network Research Department of the Institute of Technology and Standards of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology.
Call service is the most important and core basic service of operators, and has indispensable commercial and social value. The new call is based on the operator's audio and video call, superimposed on ultra-clear, intelligent, interactive and other capabilities to provide individual users with an interesting call experience, upgrade the service communication experience for industry users, enhance the value of the native call portal, and inject new vitality into the development of 5G.
After more than a year of development, Chinese operators, together with Huawei and other industry partners, have incubated a number of new call innovation services such as screen lighting, fun calls, intelligent translation, remote loss assessment, and interactive menus, providing users with a new calling experience and launching user-friendly recruitment. The GSMA has also set up a new call Foundry project to jointly promote the development of the industry.
Wang Zhiqin, Vice President of China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, delivered an opening speech at the forum. Wang Zhiqin pointed out that the new call will bring users a new service experience that is integrated, intelligent and interactive, and the Academy of Information and Communications Technology will work with industry partners to promote the technical standards and commercial development of the new call, prosper the terminal, application and content ecology, consolidate the foundation of industrial development, strengthen industrial development coordination, and enhance the people's sense of acquisition of 5G services.
Dai Xiaohui, Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Communications Standards Association, mentioned in her speech that the new call is an important innovation in the field of real-time communication services, which has brought new imagination space for the future of communication services. Bian Yannan, Deputy General Manager of the Planning and Construction Department of China Mobile Communications Group, delivered a keynote speech on "Building a New Next-Generation Call Network and Opening a New Era of Real-time Communication". Bian Yannan said that 5G new calls are strategic products of China Mobile. As a pioneer in the new calling industry, China Mobile has carried out live network friendly user trials of new call services in Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Guangdong, and will soon launch the construction of the first phase of a new call network of 50 million users, realize the commercial use of the whole network by the end of the year, build platform products with calls as the entrance, provide users with real-time interactive experience anytime, anywhere and at will, and open a new era of real-time communication.
Zhou Wenjun, General Manager of China Telecom's Value-added Service Operation Center, delivered a keynote speech on "Building 5G New Calls and Exploring the New Future of 5G". Zhou Wenjun said that China Telecom has been committed to building an open, win-win and cooperative 5G new call industry ecology, and will actively promote the construction of 5G new call service platform, strengthen overall network planning, improve service operation system, and gradually upgrade from "existing terminal + video call intelligent application" to "native 5G new call terminal + real-time intelligent interactive service" in a planned and step-by-step manner.
Chang Jian, Deputy General Manager of China Unicom Online Information Technology Co., Ltd., delivered a keynote speech on "China Unicom's Practice and Exploration of 5G New Communication - From Video Call to Metaverse Communication". Chang Jian said that with the large-scale development of 5G networks, the integrated communication capabilities of audio and video superimposed on AI and XR capabilities have matured. China Unicom launched a series of 5G new communication services, gradually evolving from visualization to interactive to metaverse communication, bringing users a new experience of voice and video integration, real and virtual interaction, and communication and metaverse integration.
Li Shuang, Deputy Director of the Technology Department of China Radio and Television Mobile Network Co., Ltd., made a keynote speech on "From "Sound Motion" to "Interactive", 5G New Call Opens a New Future of Call". Li Shuang said that China Radio and Television has built the world's largest joint construction and sharing 5G network, released the "5G New Call White Paper", created a new multimedia convergence service platform, realized a new 5G experience from "sound and motion" to "interaction", promoted the pilot construction and innovative development of new calls, and opened new 5G intelligent communication services.
Chen Haiyong, President of CS&IMS Domain of HUAWEI CLOUD Core Network Product Line, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Intelligent and Open Audio and Video Infrastructure Network Enables New Call Innovation". Chen Haiyong said that Huawei, as a network equipment provider, is an important part of the new call industry chain. Huawei is the first in the industry to propose a new calling 1+3+N solution framework, which provides three core capabilities based on a new calling platform: ultra-legibility, intelligence, and interaction, and incubates a variety of innovative services such as screen lighting, intelligent translation, fun calling, and remote collaboration, helping operators build intelligent, open, and highly stable 5.5G voice networks, enabling service innovation, and providing users with products and services with high-quality experience.
Xin Xianglei, deputy director of Xiaomi's mobile phone communication technology department, made a keynote speech on "New Empowerment and New Opportunities for 5G New Call Terminals". Xin Xianglei said that the new 5G call redefines the call experience with its visual and interactive characteristics. Xiaomi is willing to work with industry partners to build a new calling industry ecology, bring more innovative and interesting new calling applications to users, and create a new future for the calling business.
Han Liang, senior expert of UNISOC Zhanrui, made a keynote speech on "Introduction to Zhanrui 5G New Call Solution". Han Liang said that UNISOC provides a 5G new call "Turnkey" terminal solution, which not only provides Data Channel media transmission stack and IMS protocol stack implementation, but also covers call applications and operating system (Android) frameworks. Through the full-stack integrated service capabilities of chip and software platforms, it efficiently supports the construction of 5G new call ecosystem.
Liu Pingping, General Manager of the New Call Product Line of iFLYTEK Operator Business Unit, delivered a keynote speech on "iFLYTEK Spark Cognitive Big Model Empowers 5G New Calls". Liu Pingping said that relying on the core technology of the source, iFLYTEK Xinghuo Cognitive Big Model released seven core capabilities, took the lead in empowering 5G new calls, created intelligent assistants in calls, and accelerated the realization of "upper-layer innovative applications driving low-level basic calls" and becoming "5G new rigid needs".
