CCTV reported that Chinese State Councilor and Defense Minister Li Shangfu once again talked about the Taiwan Strait issue during his meeting with Singapore's defense minister. Defense Minister Lee Shang-book used three "necesses" to express our attitude on the Taiwan Strait issue, that is, the mainland will never allow the DPP authorities to rely on external forces to seek "independence," nor will it allow external forces to want to use Taiwan to "contain the mainland."
But just after Li Shangfu's three "never" words fell, US President Biden publicly claimed when attending the event at the Air Force Academy that the United States has prepared for fierce competition with China and will defend its own interests, all for the sake of American friends and American values. But at the same time, he also stressed that the two countries should leave the door open for cooperation in solving common global problems.
The defense ministers of China and Singapore meet
For more than a month, the United States has been hoping to facilitate a meeting between the defense ministers of China and the United States during the Shangri-La Dialogue, but China has explicitly refused. Because we put forward the preconditions for the defense ministers' meeting, firstly, the United States must lift sanctions against Lee Shang-bok, and secondly, we hope that the United States will not continue to interfere in China's internal affairs.
China's demand is legitimate, if the US sanctions against Defense Minister Li Shangfu are not lifted, then the Sino-US defense ministers' meeting advocated by the US side will be in a state of inequality. Taiwan is China's inherent territory, and abiding by the one-China principle is also a political commitment made by the United States to China when China and the United States establish diplomatic relations.
But we can see that the United States is still trying to contain Chinese mainland with the "Taiwan card", for example, not long ago, US President Biden also used the "emergency right to use" to provide Taiwan with $500 million in military aid, and then a batch of "Stinger" air defense missiles were transported to Taiwan by US military transport aircraft.

Even despite China's opposition, the United States brazenly signed the "21st Century Trade Agreement" with Taiwan, openly interfering in China's internal affairs and provoking China. Because Taiwan is only a provincial-level administrative region of China, the United States wants to bypass our agreement with Taiwan to sign an agreement of sovereign nature, which is undoubtedly hollowing out the one-China principle.
It is precisely for this reason that China finally decided to reject the request of the United States for a meeting between the Chinese and US defense ministers, and Defense Minister Lee Shang-bok reiterated three "nego" on the Taiwan issue. This is to tell the United States that the Taiwan Strait issue is the core of China's core interests, this sentence is not casual, if the United States does not listen to the advice, it is tantamount to "playing with fire", and never promising to renounce the use of force is the best warning.
So when it knows that playing the "Taiwan card" will only undermine Sino-US relations and is also detrimental to the United States itself, why should the United States still do this?
The two sides of the strait will inevitably be reunified
This is mainly because the "Taiwan card" has become one of the very few "cards" in the hands of the United States that can suppress China. In the past few years, the United States has launched a trade war and a technology blockade war against China, but as a result of the trade war, all the tariffs imposed by the United States on China have been imposed on the American people themselves. Because without the U.S. being able to revive manufacturing, they can't get rid of their dependence on Chinese manufacturing.
At the same time, the US blockade of science and technology against China will only cause China to invest more energy and funds in the research and development of indigenous technologies to enhance its independence. For example, in the field of semiconductors, in just a few years, we have obtained a series of technological achievements, such as quantum chip production technology, and even 14 nm or even 7 nm technology, which indicates that China is no longer far from getting rid of the "stuck neck" of Western technology. At the same time, this has also made the United States pay more and more attention to using the Taiwan issue to contain China's development, because this "card" is the most effective. Therefore, even if the United States has the need to improve Sino-US relations, they will not easily give up interfering in the Taiwan Strait issue.
U.S.-China relations
But no matter what the United States thinks, we cannot compromise on the Taiwan issue. From a historical and national point of view, cross-strait reunification is an important step towards realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Second, from a strategic point of view, only by recovering Taiwan can we completely break the strategic blockade set up by the United States around China, and we can drive US influence out of the western Pacific.
Finally, it also warned the "Taiwan independence" forces on the island that, just as Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said, the strategy of the "Taiwan independence" elements on the island to "rely on the United States to seek independence" is doomed to failure. This shows China's self-confidence in resolving the Taiwan issue, and this confidence comes from strong national and military strength.
