Hong Kong media reports show that one of the two women was stabbed more than 30 times in the chest, and the other was stabbed in the head. After the crime, the suspect was covered in blood, standing by the fence with a knife, and indifferently watching others give first aid to the two women. According to Sing Tao Daily, the suspect is unemployed, lives on comprehensive social security assistance, suffers from paranoid schizophrenia, and sought medical treatment from a psychiatrist in March. It was reported that he had attempted to injure his father with a knife and needed to be hospitalized.
Zhong Liyi said at a press conference on the 3rd that at 5 p.m. on the 2nd, the suspect entered the mall alone, and then bought a 12-inch (30.48 cm) long knife in a store as a tool for murder, and after wandering in the mall for a few minutes, attacked one of the women on the 3rd floor of the mall, and the other woman stepped forward to stop it, but was unsuccessful, and then was also attacked, and the suspect did not contact the two before the attack.
The police received a number of reports from citizens at 5:15 p.m. on the same day, and rushed to the scene within 4 minutes, subdued the suspect and arrested him.
Zhong Liyi introduced that the two deceased were friends, with multiple stab wounds and heavy bleeding, and were sent to the United Hospital for rescue, and the two were confirmed dead at 6:06 and 6:47 p.m. on the evening of the 2nd.
Zhong Liyi said that the suspect was unemployed, lived with his family, had a psychiatric record, and needed regular follow-up, and at that time he committed the crime alone, and there was no evidence to show that the suspect knew the two deceased.
Chung Liyi finally said that the Hong Kong police are highly concerned about violent cases, will investigate the suspect's motives, and conduct a comprehensive investigation, including reviewing a large number of surveillance videos.
